Sonys Five Pronged Strategy For PS3 Success

Sony’s 5-pronged strategy to competing effectively in the games market revolves around the following:

1. Motion controller
2. Blu-ray discs
3. Playstation Network
4. PSP Linkage
5. 3D games

With regard to Playstation Network, Sony’s briefing summary mentions the service has 33 million registered users worldwide. Going forward, part of the plan is to expand the PSN by “Integrating attractive hardware, including new mobile products and other consumer electronics, with networked services.” Hmm…whatever could they be talking about?

The summary also mentions expanding Sony’s lineup of network-connected products and specifies a target install base of 350 million units by the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.

I wonder how many of those users are “unique”. I know I have four accounts (one for each store).

Not sure how 1 and 5 will pan out, but the others seem okay.

number 5 is the only thing on the list that excites me.

    Motion controller? Really?

Is it just me or is this a really weak plan?

I only have 3 PSN accts, US, Jpn, and HK, I just log on to the first 2 frequently. Is the 4th one Europe? How is that one, mostly overlap w/ the US one right?

sony is going to conquer the world

    PSP ftw

No, it just sucks. It's almost empty, stuff gets released a lot later, more expensive, and their choice of PS1 titles is very poor.

But still, if I need some downloadable content for my european PS3 games, there is no other way (DLC is region locked), so I made the account.
