Tales of Graces Extended With Challenge Battles

Tales of Graces will have downloadable content that goes beyond items and Tales of Vesperia costumes.

In a Creator’s Voice interview, Shinichiro Okamoto, Product Manger, explains they also made downloadable challenge battles. These are similar to the arena battles in previous Tales games where you fight groups of powerful enemies and shoot for a high rank. Unlike the items and titles, Namco Bandai will distribute challenge battles over Nintendo Wi-Fi for free.

Okamoto thinks adding challenge battles will make Tales of Graces enjoyable for a long time, that is longer than the expected 40-45 hours of gameplay to get though the story.

Sucks that us Importers(that use gecko OS) won’t beable to get the downloadable content. Unlesss hackers release the wads(which I hope they do for at least the pre-order costumes…and before people rag on me for stealing: Yes I have pre-ordered and will get the code to download them, but I don’t have a Japanese Wii, and as far as I know there is no way to get to the Japanese Shop Channel on a US Wii without completely ruining the US Shop Channel, but if someone does know a way that’d be awesome!)

There are ways, but you’d better not try them. I busted, and had to give up my old account in order to access (any) shop again – that was about 20$ of purchases down the drain. Good thing I hadn’t bought that much stuff yet.

From now on, I’m sticking to region-freeing my games, and nothing more.

This is my 3rd most anticipated RPG atm, I hope it’s localized.

That is a really cute costume Asbel has! I’m really irked that they’ve been making current-gen tales games have costumes that are purchase-only though. A lot of the fun in getting a cool costume was the sidequests themselves. Yuri’s True Knight title was a pain in the butt to get, but I was so handsomely rewarded in the end.

And I have serious reservations about paying to buy virtual costumes on a game I’ll spend maybe less than a month playing, even it’s a few dollars.

cool. Hopes this brings in sales. Tales series deserves much better than it gets…
