Introducing Atlus USA’s First Nintendo DSi Title

Introducing Atlus USA’s First Nintendo DSi Title Apart from console games and publishing Marvel Comics, Atlus Japan used to make a chunk of change from sticker photo machines or “purikura” in Japanese. They left the business in April, but haven’t forgotten their sticker picture roots.

 

According to the ESRB, Atlus USA is publishing a “game” called Photoworld for the Nintendo DSi where players use the camera to take pictures which they can customize with stamps and effects. Sounds a lot like DSiWare purikura.

 

Wait, Atlus already developed a print club program for DSiWare and Nintendo of America published it under the name Sparkle Snapshots in November. PhotoWorld is going to be a direct competitor. Perhaps, Atlus can capitalize on their North American fanbase by throwing in Persona frames and Amazing Tater stamps. Would you buy a DSiWare game that lets you take a picture with Jack Frost?

    Pictures with Jack Frost or not, it'll only be bought if it's good. I guess we'll get some details sooner or later, but they are a little late on the DSiWare thing.

    Can't companies think of some other ways of making a DSi-exclusive title than using the camera?

    I mean, we heard the DSi is quite a bit more powerful than the Lite. They could try to do something with that.

    Atlus need to develop a DSiWare app that lets you point your DSi camera at someone and shows you their persona and arcana. At 22 points, it'd be awesome.

    You know what…if they're doing that, they may as well go all the way and let you do battle with your persona. Maybe they can even incorporate some sort of social-link or demon-communication system based on the number of people you meet and get data for.

    The DSi was a failure IMO with taking out the GBA slot. I hope more games with GBA slot add-ons get made so that the people who were silly enough(including me) to get the DSi over the DS lite realize just how meaningful was the extra cash for the DSi…
    Nintendo Thinks that we're stupid enough to buy the DSi XXL when we all know they will throw a new model on summer vacations. They're going the wrong way.

    Even if I wanted these DSi titles, they're region locked so I couldn't play them anyway.

    If they somehow did that, and made it into a new, full DS Persona game, it'd be enough to make me go out and buy a DSi.

    Phew! You worried me that I'd miss out on a cool Atlus game because I won't buy a DSi. Thank goodness it's just a silly photo app. :P
