Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces finally has a date and price! You can grab it on January 12, 2010 for $29.99.

The price was a really nice surprise — I expected it to be around $39.99; the same as Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, which was much less deserving of that price point. If you’re in Europe, keep in mind that Namco Bandai are publishing it there in February.

And since no one apparently read it the first time, here’s a link to our Sky Crawlers interview from a couple weeks ago, which sheds some more light on the game and how Xseed will go about marketing it.

Reversible cover, and $30. I can look past the exclusion of original VA for this. :D

    Cannot wait!

I’d have bought it anyway, but no complaints here.

Yup, I’m so buying this on day one. Locking in my Amazin order right now…

Indeed, I will! Definitely wasn’t expecting the price (as opposed to, say, The Grudge game), either, but it’s a good surprise. I guess because the film has gotten such high praise and press. I haven’t seen it myself (does it even have an official worldwide release?).

Yeah, I somehow missed that interview… let me get to that.
“One thing we do not do is try to match the Japanese voices. It is not that we actively try to make the voices different; it’s simply a matter of what works for our US audience.”
That’s really interesting. Many studios do go for the matching voices of the Japanese counterpart (for better or for worse). Not that I have an issue with either, but since many game players are sticklers and critical when it comes to voice acting in Japanese games I would have liked to know how they’d go about setting it all up for presentation. Tone, I guess?

The custom feature sounds pretty interesting. I’m not a plane expert, but I love toying around with them. Too bad you can’t paint idols on it like in Ace Combat 6, but I’ll live!
