Korean Drama Compacted Onto A DS CartWinter Sonata, a super popular and super sad Korean drama has a Nintendo DS game thanks to the folks behind The Onechanbara and Earth Defense Force.

D3 Publisher picked up the license to the drama and squished the love story onto a DS cart. Story mode is a text version of Winter Sonata with images from the TV show.

Mini-mode has a hangul training game and trivia questions to play with. Perhaps, the most interesting mode is date mode where you can “date” Joon Sang, the main character in Winter Sonata. You can even enter your name as the female lead. How’s that for customization?

Winter Sonata DS is also D3’s first Nintendo DSi enhanced game. This has Winter Sonata DS photo frames and stamps to play with. Winter Sonata DS is in stores now.

    Still haven't watched this uber famous series. I just found out they made an anime for this and it uses the original Korean cast as voice actors, strange since I never watched anime dubbed in Korean..

    For a game based on a super sad drama, Yong-sama certainly looks cheerful :) I don't like his new do w/ the long hair now, looks like a hippie..

    Is the game complete with crying every two seconds? Because then it would be *a lot* like the drama ^.^;;;

    this game is pefect for hironobu sakaguchi's cry on game.

    I haven't seen many Korean dramas. They're very well acted and the stories are interesting, but I'm afraid they fall into the same cliches of love triangles and fluff that every other TV dramas fall into. The energy of the show just takes a nosedive once they shoehorn the romance.
    If you want an awesome drama check out anything starring Ryoko Hirosue or Abe Hiroshi.

    I haven't seen his roles, but I recognize Bae Yong-joon. He starred in another DS game made for Japan where he teaches Korean.
    I wonder if this Winter Sonata can match 99 no Namida on the DS…
