I'm kind of the opposite when it comes to RPGs; I like it when characters have fixed jobs because I feel like it gives them personality, even if it isn't expressed within the context of the story. But I do love FFIII's job system though…I had a lot of fun with that game. I don't know how I'd feel about V…it's not that I DON'T want to see it remade; just that I'm really impatient for VI and I probably won't appreciate V as much because of that.

Agreed, VIII had some of the best buildup / awesome moments of any FF. The assassination sequence with Liberi Fatali playing throughout was one of my favourites. There's a lot of potential for a remake. I love romance in games, and there's just so much more they could add to flesh out Squall and Rinoa (and maybe even some of the other characters). They could even throw in a SeeD Monster Hunter mode where you run around capturing beasts for the Garden!

FF7 changed my life. Admittedly it was a great story with great characters but MORE than that it was a game that will always be best at nostalgia's length. That's not to say that advent children and CCore were bad, in fact they were both fantastic, but like modern fanart I see of the game, they're a tribute. Nothing can re-create what 1997 meant to me.

You caught me, I'm totally a job-system freak. That's also why I love DQIII and VII over V (my third favorite DQ). I wasn't the biggest fan of FFIII, but I love Tactics.

I love VIII, but I simply don't like the way any character is presented on Disk 3 and beyond. Edea is perhaps the only exception. I do feel that VIII has some of the most “epic” moments in FF, with the Garden Battles and whatnot. Also, FFVIII desperately needs the new SE localization treatment. SE's localization is much better now compared to 10-15 years ago. Playing Chrono Trigger DS is like playing an almost completely different game at a few points. Of course, VII has this problem too, but VIII is worse because the bad localization butchered Rinoa's character and simply made her “annoying.”

(Don't kill me! I know you job system freaks love your III and V!)

VIII is fantastic, though, and still my favourite of the whole series. I'd love to see a retelling of it where Squall is a little less frustrating personality-wise. Also, I don't care what people say about the Draw system; I thought it was awesome, and I loved the concept of building characters entirely around the GFs.

Yes, I think FFV should get a remake. To be honest, the scenario felt really bland to me – even FFIV at least had the moon which was a bit different for the time. And FFV? Full of the same generic tilesets. :D
Reworking the world design to give it more of a unique visual approach (as the FFs from VI onward all had) could be pretty cool though.

FFVII was my first FF , i didnt know nothing about it but something on the cover made me buy it … i think it was hours of cutcenes …
if only i knew id be dooming myself XD ! lol and i had no memory card sooo the first 10 times i started the game were fun fun xD !
Anyway i only want a remake if its gonna be on Ps3 and they push it to the limits… if not dont do it «« the original is just fine! Overated or not its special to me and i dont want it ruined ! OHh but i did enjoy crisis core ! playing with zack was awsome but yeah «« its like FF13 missions repetivive although i have 98% of them done «« ……………………………. it was on my PsP for more than a year O_O !

Honestly, I bought an old copy of VII not too long ago, started playing for about an hour and havent touched it since. Got a die-hard VII-fan friend whom almost gets mad at me for not seeing the beauty in the game. Might be that I need to get further into the it, might be that I'm a pixels-whore, but I really don't think it stands up to most RPG's today. What I want from a old FF game to be remade is the Tetra Master mini-game from IX. They might as well remake IX which probably is my fave FF.

Oh man, the anti-FFVII brigade is out in full force today. Though I'm of mind that VIII needs a remake more than VII does. A lot of the things that were tried in VIII were great ideas pulled off badly. If they upgraded and rebalanced the mechanics of VIII, many people would find it a good deal more enjoyable. I'm in the camp that loves VIII's mechanics because they're so easily abusable and broken, but I simply can't stand to play past Disk 3 because it annoys me. VII's mechanics are fine, other than a certain summon being overpowered and the lo~ong animation sequences of certain spells. A bit more variety in how each character played other than their limit breaks would be nice, though.

I really think I just want more Triple Triad, though.

But, of course, my dream is a V remake, in perhaps something closer to what they did with I+II PSP and their enhanced sprites. I definitely enjoyed the way SE handled those two. Then again, the Hydra battle in the canal and riding the Dragon in full HD would be amazing.
