Hope For A Final Fantasy XIII Collector’s Edition In North America?

Europe is getting a Final Fantasy XIII collector’s edition package. There haven’t been any announcements about a similar item in North America, but the press release announcing the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 bundle may be hinting at another Final Fantasy XIII package.

Here’s an excerpt from Square Enix USA’s e-mail about the Xbox 360 hardware.

The bundle includes a 250GB Hard Drive engraved with the FINAL FANTASY XIII name, two Wireless Controllers, exclusive downloadable avatar items and a standard edition copy of FINAL FANTASY XIII.

Note how it says “standard edition” copy of Final Fantasy XIII. Why would the press release need to point that out if there was only one edition of Final Fantasy XIII for North America?  Perhaps, there is another edition of Final Fantasy XIII that or Square Enix changed the contact info and sent the same press release to Europe.

Well, they better announce it soon. Most people really interested in the game have already pre-ordered the “standard” edition. They're only loosing possible up-sales by taking so long to announce a limited edition.

If FF13 CE is released. Just like FF12, the standard edition will end up being less common than the FF12 CE.

Well, maybe initially, but you can still buy FF12 now.

Yea, the Gamestop CE flooded the market and I remember they lined up the wall w/ it, and price dropped the price to $30 shortly after (PS2 was on its las legs too). But we need artbook and soundtrack, not just behind the scene DVDs… the thought of FF engraved 250Gb HDD and faceplate got me excited though.

I would lean more towards the idea of lazy text pasting than anything big. Unless Square announces a promotion on the 13th of Feb, it's basically pointless to release a special edition in North America…

It's pointless to add $2 of stuff and charge $15 more?

I assumed that it was supposed to clarify that the game is not special, but the console. So yah, I wouldn't take this as all that useful evidence yet.

Announce it already. I've been holding back and I'm getting really antsy about it. ><

A good friend of mine, who is a Gamestop Manager, said that Gamestop has already briefed employees on the tentative announcement of the FFXIII CE/LE. He said it should be announced any day now.

I hope he's right. I really don't want to have to import the UK CE/LE.

    I certainly have!

    I just bought a PS3 & pre-ordered FF13 so oh well :P

God, I hope he's right. Final Fantasy is the one series where I allow myself to go all out on useless LE stuff. But are you sure he wasn't just talking about this 360 bundle?

It's getting pretty late for them to solicit a new edition of the game (although they did just announce the bundle, so I suppose it's possible they'll say something about an LE on Feb 13th).

Haha we're not getting it, are we? :-P

  • Tofuuu

don't think so lol i think the “Feb. 13″ announcement was the 360 Bundle
