DSiWare Game Localized To Attract Idolm@ster Fans

The Idolm@ster is so successful in Japan even Paris headquartered Gameloft is piggybacking off its success with a DSiWare game called Idol Nights. This isn’t a new game, Idol Nights is a localized for Japan version of American Popstar.

Aside from a language change, the DSiWare game appears to be the same. It’s the marketing that’s different. Gameloft’s logo for American Popstar looks like something you would see on American Idol. Idol Nights ditches the girl screaming into a microphone for anime-like characters in front of a stage. This change is cosmetic, but interesting to note just to see how Western titles in Japan are superficially altered.

Spike, if you’re reading this, your next survey should find out if Japanese gamers like localized or original art for Western games sold in Japan.
