Try Yakuza 4 Before You Buy Yakuza 3Sega has a demo of Yakuza 4 scheduled to go up on the PlayStation Store on March 5.

The 1.78GB file lets you sample two pieces of the game: the start of Shun Akiyama’s storyline and a battle mode where you can test out all four characters.

Diversions such as karaoke, the hostess club JeweL, and an arcade equipped with UFO Catcher, Answer x Answer, and the shooter Boxcelios 2 are part of the demo. Players can also relax at a hot springs resort and play table tennis with one of the girls.

Yakuza 4: Heir to the Legend roundhouse kicks its way into retail a week later on March 18.

I assume it's for the Japanese PSN store…right?

  • Doomrider

You assume correctly. It would make little sense releasing a demo of a game in a territory where its release was not announced.

  • Jasontate

Well i for one am glad to see what might be in one game, applied to another.
I always enjoy having something to look forward to.

  • badmoogle

Yeah obviously i thought so too but man…Sega is acting crazy lately so nothing would surprise me anymore from them.:p

But anyway i'm glad about the news.:)

  • Hraesvelgr

Well, if it was Sega releasing it on the North American or European stores, you'd only be able to do the battle mode. The idea of playing a story just doesn't resonate with Western gamers, so they'd have to cut that.

  • kupomogli

I hope this comes to the US.

I hope this comes to North American, and isn't rushed/cut to crap like yakuza 3.

Why play a demo to a game that I won't buy? I'd have to want to play Yakuza 3 first… but that is highly unlikely… Sega is out of touch man.

  • Tim N

Man, if only my PS3 hard drive wasn't full!

  • badmoogle

This is no excuse for someone who has Kiryu for his avatar!:p

  • TheCleaningGuy

Why not play the demo for Yakuza 3 and see if you'd like it? Seriously, demos aren't just for people who have already decided that they're buying a particular game, they're for giving people who have no interest in it a chance to try the game and potentially enjoy it. Seriously, there's no goddamn reason for someone to say: “This game is supposed to be great, but I'm not interested because the publisher is 'out of touch' and I won't download the free demo to see if it's good or not.”

  • Ujn Hunter

I think you need to re-read the article and then my resulting comment. This is about a Yakuza *4* demo… and why would I play a Yakuza *4* demo when I'm not going to play the Yakuza *3* game? Sega of America (or whoever is localizing Yakuza 3) has said there were cuts made when they were translating the game. I will not be buying an incomplete game, therefore won't need to play the 4th game in the series. Unless Sega gets its act together and realizes that Yakuza 3 is a title that is basically being bought by fans of Yakuza & Yakuza 2, and that the fans aren't happy about the content cuts… then I won't support them. So there is the “goddamn reason”.

  • TheCleaningGuy

Fair enough. I figured you'd never played Yakuza, and were refusing to even try the series simply due to Sega's cut content fiasco. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
