Manga Artists And Game Designers Contributing To WarioWare D.I.Y. DLC

WarioWare D.I.Y. uses a special kind of DS cartridge known as a NAND card. The NAND card allows for larger save files and faster loading — a feature the SPD1 team at Nintendo felt was necessary in order to facilitate user-created micro-games and a regular stream of downloadable content. The content itself is very interesting. In addition to games created by other users — all judged by Nintendo employees — that are deemed good enough to be added to the portfolio, a separate category titled “Big Name Games” will include micro-games created by well-known people. Satoru Iwata, Shigeru Miyamoto, Masahiro Sakurai and Yoshio Sakamoto are already contributing. Here’s a screenshot of Sakamoto’s
Metroid-themed game.

In addition to this, five professional manga artists will also be providing downloadable comic strips for WarioWare D.I.Y.

    Wooh, yeah

    Sakurai, my man

I’ll always remember how much fun we had quoting him at gamefaq’s brawl forum..

  • Is that only for the Japanese version? Or does this apply to the upcoming U.S. version as well?

  • Joanna

that sounds cool. I sort of wish I had a DSi now….but I think I’ll stick with my Lite and buy a PSP next.

    • Why this game cartridge doesn’t work on the O.G. DS Phat & DS lites? I hope that isn’t the case… I have ZERO interest in a DSi.

I think it does (but I’m not 100% sure), it’s just that all the cool content is DLC and thus exclusive to the DSi. Like Each of the games that Iwata, Miyamoto, Sakurai and Sakamoto are making. (Of course they could make it DLC through the Wii….but that wouldn’t be permanent…so either way, DSi will probably get the most out of the game.)

        • Hrmmm… I was under the impression that the GAME handled the DLC like Professor Layton etc… over Wi-Fi. Not the OS. But that would stink if it’s only DSi. Ah well… I’ll wait and see. I might have to cancel my pre-order.
