Check Out A New Bit.Trip Runner Trailer

Bit.Trip Runner finally drops the abstract aesthetic of the previous games and gives you control of the enigmatic Commander Video. While it doesn’t do away with the retro style that inspired the series, unlike its predecessors, Runner isn’t a rhythm-based game — it’s a platformer.

 

The catch is, Commander Video doesn’t stop running, and it’s up to the player to keep him from crashing into obstacles. For Runner’s, soundtrack Gaijin Games recruited chiptune punk-band Anamanaguchi.

    Bit Trip series + Anamanaguchi = gold.

    I checked out their concert when they were in SF. Chiptune heaven!

    This is an absolute must-buy in my book.

    That, and the fact it looks like the Pitfall Activition box art from the Atari 2600 days is money.

    Uh…yeah…chiptune punk band…can we finally say game culture has jumped the Shadow*?

    I mean, do these guys actually call themselves a punk band or is that the writer embellishing things a bit? (I pray it's the latter.)

    *Shadow the Hedgehog, of course.
