Facebook Files: What Are Your Most Anticipated Games Of 2010?

It seems like we’ve been having the “Is this the best year in games?” debate every year for the past three years. Well, 2010 looks like it could give previous years a run for their money. So, what games are you looking forward to most this year and why?

Anton wrote:

Going into 2010, two games were high up on my list of “Most Anticipated.” One of those was White Knight Chronicles. While it wasn’t everything I hoped it would be, it’s a decent game and I’m starting to enjoy it.

The other big one is The Last Guardian. I am so excited for this game. I’m also hoping that Team Ico is operating on schedule and we won’t have to see a delay on what looks to be the next greatest game ever. :D

So, like the title suggests, tell us your most anticipated titles of the year! Has your most anticipated game already been released? Was it everything you hoped it would be? What else are you looking forward to?

Games that I’m looking forward to:

Fragile Dreams, Metroid: Other M, Sin & Punishment 2, Legend of Zelda (I hope), Golden Sun DS (I’m hoping desperately, it’s been too long)
Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bioshock 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and many more…

So yeah, I’ve got a lot on my plate (especially non-game related). It’s been a good year for me and I’m looking forward to quite a few games.

I think everything I’m looking forward to is completely different from everyone else.

The only game that has come out so far that I was looking forward to has been No More Heroes 2 which I loved. They fixed most of the problems of the first one (although they seemed to change some things that were good and are now bad… but they weren’t big things)

I’m really looking forward to Starcraft 2. So much so, that I don’t really know if I want a Beta key (not that I’m likely to get one) cause I really wanna play a finished version of the game. I have fond memories of my friends and I rushing home after school to play Starcraft online with each other. And I just haven’t been able to find an RTS that I liked as much as Starcraft.

I’m also looking forward to Portal 2 (Woot same day Mac release). I mean anyone who played Portal is looking forward to this game. I generally don’t look forward to a game and very rarely buy one on within the first week of release.

I’m really looking forward to The Last Story and Xenoblade. I’m definitely looking forward to these two new RPGs, especially since they’re on the Wii, a system that I support but hasn’t been getting a lot of games in this genre (that are great). Not to mention, Soraya’s working on Xenoblade and Sakaguchi’s on TLS. They’re looking to be really good =D

On another note, other games…uhm, Monster Hunter 3, Red Steel 2, Metroid: Other M, Zelda… I’d actually completely forgotten about Ni no Kuni, and I’m interested in Golden Sun DS, since I’d never played the original. Last Guardian looks great too, but I don’t have a PS3. Le sad. Amazingly, I’m actually interested in Pokemon Gen. V, since I want to see what they’ve changed. Arc Rise Fantasia and Birth by Sleep are high up in the list too.

Hm… the only game that currently gets me excited is P3P with the female storyline… other than that… if Ushiro isn’t coming out this year then there’s not much else that’s gets my heart pounding faster. Maybe Sakura Wars, since it’s probably gonna be the last PS2 game coming out (tho I am still hoping for some others being magically localised…..). I’m also looking forward alot to the fan translation of Summon Night X. And the decent US localisation of Agarest Senki

I guess that’s it. It’s not like I’m not glad about games like FFXIII or Rorona or lots of others… but I’m not really excited over them, hm.

I'm looking forward to Fez and Limbo. Oh, and I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that The Last Window somehow makes it out in at least Europe.

  • kylehyde

Dragon Quest IX, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Again eye of providence, okamiden, ghost trick and finally the most important game in the year (at least for me), GOLDEN SUN DS.

  • neo_firenze

Final Fantasy XIV would probably be number 1.

Also, all of the Cave shooter ports are always most anticipated for me: Ketsui, Deathsmiles 2, Guwange, something unannounced (DDP Daifukkatsu? Pink Sweets????)

And I can't ignore Super Street Fighter 4, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, The Last Guardian.

My more “sleeper” picks: Majin: The Forsaken Kingdom, Enslaved

Like Steven, 2010 has been an awesome year so far! Better, possibly, than any year before it for me, personally. And of course, games are part of that. This could turn into a really long list for me, too, so I'm going to try and focus on the two or three I want the most.

    1. The Last Story: Some people in the comments like to refer to this as Final Fantasy XV, and honestly, that's how I tend to look at it, too. Or rather, that's the vibe Sakaguchi seems to be trying his best to give off. The logo, that music on the site. Of course, there's all the talk of “universal emotions,” which is something I feel FF has never even ventured close to, as much as we all love those games, and that's really exciting, too. I always feel like not enough Japanese games have tried to evoke an emotional reaction of late.

    2. Tsukihime remake: Complete no-brainer for me. The original Tsukihime is one of the best-written visual novels ever, and the music is fantastic. Every time I think of a game that handles character development and relations well, Tsukihime is one of the first ones to come to mind. It's also one of the first games that actually made me feel anything. (my year-long teenage crush on Arcueid totally counts!) Unfortunately, despite it being teased in every issue of Type-Moon, no one knows when it's actually coming out…

Sakura Wars is it for me as well. hoping some other RPGs get the green light for localisation this year before they close the book on the PS2.

Heavy Rain was one for me and it far exceeded my expectation and more, that game was mature and very emotional like a roller coaster, hope Alan Wake would be good in that respect. Other than that just Last Story and Guwange for me (maybe I'm more of a Inoue Junya than shmup fan, reading Otogi Matsuri and Btooom lately, getting Ketsui too of course).

With the recent new of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift being released this Summer I have to say that is the one game that is to be released this year that I and anticipating.

Otherwise I just realised I don´t have much clues about what games are being released this year. Starcraft 2 maybe. But otherwise I just don´t have a clue at this point.

I'm really looking forward to Fable 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armanda of the Damned, Splatterhouse and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

I'm also hoping that Koei brings Nobunaga no Yabou Tendou for the Xbox 360 stateside in 2010. Also I'm hoping a publisher picks up Age of Pirates: Captian Blood for the Xbox 360 for a North American release.

  • Ereek

If Fallout: New Vegas hits its target 2010 release, that will be one of my most-anticipated titles. The same with Final Fantasy XIV, but I'm not sure if they'll hit their target date.

I'm also looking forward to Majin: The Fallen Realm and The Last Guardian. “Last Rankar” is on my “to watch” list, as is Venetica and possibly the new Arcania.

If we count localizations that are already announced, Rorona and Sakura Taisen thrill me, I've been waiting for Sakura Taisen in English for years. I also want DQVI (not announced yet) and IX and 3D Dot Game Heroes.

. . .I'm sorry, I know you said pick carefully, but this year has been absolutely amazing so far and it looks to continue strong.

My most anticipated game was Super Robot Taisen OG Saga EF Exceed, but now that it released(and I love it) I felt a gap in my heart :/ like, I need something to wait for in my video games world XD Well, I suposse I want the new Masou Kishin and FF13.

    oh! and castlevania:P
I’m a bit exited for natal but not much:o

There isn't any one thing I'm really excited about, but there are lots of different things I think *could* be great. FFXIII and Resonance of Fate were two of them. Also Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Xenoblade, 3d Dot Game Heroes. It'd also be nice if Namco would get off their butts and announce Tales of Graces for localization.

I can't wait for the Tsukihime remake, Sonic 4, Melty Blood: Actress Again (if we get it this year), and Witch on the Holy Night, and Metroid: Other M. So many good things coming this year!

    In no special order:

    Atelier Rorona
    Disgaea Infinite (!)
    Trinity Universe
    Persona 3 Portable
    = squee

I was looking forward to Resonance of Fate and am happily enjoying it now.
It's much more fun and impressive than I imagined it to be.

SMT: Strange Journey, Persona 3 Portable, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Okamiden, Ghost Trick, SRT OG Saga EXCEED, MGS: Peace Walker, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Golden Sun DS, Metroid: Other M are just among the games on top of my head, <3 handhelds!

  • badmoogle

The Last Guardian,3D Dot Game Heroes,Majin:The Lost Realm,Gran Turismo 5,Valkyria Chronicles 2,Dragon Quest IX,Monster Hunter Tri,Tower of Shadow,Rune Factory Frontier (EU)

  • http://honorless.net honorless

Deathsmiles and SMT: Strange Journey are the big two.

Several steps below them is Picross 3D. Everything else is way below that for various reasons. (GS DS will be great, but not really “anticipating” it for $40; don't know if I have the patience to make P3P worth buying; even if one of Cave's final ports is Muchi Muchi Pork! it won't be region free…etc.)

The games I'm really salivating over haven't been announced for localization yet, much less this year. Last Ranker, EO III…7th Dragon. (I want to believe!)

hm. I was really excited about Pokemon. But that is now released (and I am enjoying it) Others yet to be released:

1.SMT: Strange Journey: more collecting goodness + classic dungeon crawler = very excited!

    2. Infinite Space: I think this is out now, but I still have to pick it up. ^^;;;

    3. Last Story: Like everyone else, I'm really excited about this

    4. Golden Sun DS: I loved the two golden suns, so I cannot wait for this!!!

others that I'm quite interested in: Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Raise Fantasia, Last Window (assuming it shall make it out this year), and FFXIII (still need to pick it up). I have a feeling I'm missing something, but I can't recall what. :/
