Viz Publishing Third 20th Century Boys Movie In June

By Ishaan . April 10, 2010 . 9:30am The third and final 20th Century Boys movie is hitting North America on June 1st, under the title 20th Century Boys: Redemption. I haven’t gotten around to watching the second movie yet, but the first one was okay, considering they had to cram several volumes of manga into a couple hours. Personally, I’d like to see an anime adaptation at some point that omits some of the more bizarre redundancies.

And of course, as Viz were keen to point out, the new boxsets for Naruto and Bleach are out in May and June, respectively, as well.

Still not watching any of the movies until Viz finishes releasing all the comics (and I think they have a bunch left.)

      “a bunch left.”

Well they only just started localizing it last year. At a rate of one volume every two months they’ve brought out 7 of the 24 volumes in the series. Don’t expect them all to be out for three more years…

You could always purchase and read all that’s out now, find the rest on the internet then check out the movies. Then buy the latest volumes as they come out. All of Naoki Urasawa’s English-licensed works deserve to be bought.

I really do recommend reading it before watching the movies though as they don’t exactly make twists and plot elements as surprising or well-executed as in the manga.

20th Century Boys and Pluto completely deserve well-produced anime adaptions.

    • Yeah definitely. I’d like to see a 20th Century Boys anime, I still have yet to finish the first movie, but I have no clue how they fit that much content.

I’ve never read the manga but I did see the movies. I thought the first one was great, the second and third not as much but still entertaining. Since Viz cheaped out and isn’t releasing it on BD I imported the Asian versions. English subs included!
