Steins;Gate Coming To PC

The June issue of Tech Gian magazine confirms that Xbox 360 visual novel Steins;Gate is being ported to the PC. The game is the second collaboration between acclaimed developer Nitroplus and developer-cum-record label 5pb. The first major project the two firms collaborated on was Chaos;Head.

 

Steins;Gate is a sci-fi-esque visual novel that tells the story of a group of friends experimenting with sending messages into the past. Subsequently, they are discovered by a time-travel research organization named SERN, and have to avoid capture. It’s enjoyed a fair amount of critical acclaim in Japan, owing largely to its voice cast and plot.

 

5pb sure are having a busy year.

    Is a fan translation in the works?

      Don’t think so. It was released to XBOX360 some time ago, so I doubt anyone tried it. Although with the release of the PC version, there might be soon. Really hope it’ll get fan translated, though.

    OXM demo disc 108 has a Steins;Gate demo on it for anyone wanting to try it out.
    I’m still hoping UFO or someone picks this up fo a NA release.

      This actually sounds pretty interesting. I’m also wishing for a NA release. Although these types of games rarely get localized. But, you never know. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

        Given the amount of text that needs to be translated I am quite sure that it will take time before if ever it is localized.

        This kind of game just isn´t big enough outside of Japan :(

        I would love to see it though. Sounds interesting and it´s by Nitro+ so what can go wrong? Maybe JastUSA will bring this title in as well after they are done with Demonbane and their following titles?

      I think it’ll be like Chaos;Head in terms of nsfw. Which means I’ll finally get to play it in my living room without worries that the ladies at home will freak. YES! Please don’t add extra eroge contents, my dear developers!

        That´s one good point right there :)

        You could always play it at night when everyone else is asleep? I do that. Works wonders.

        But I was rather talking about this topic itself. It warned me for NSFW content in this post but when I enter it I see just one single image of a girl in a swimsuit. I would never call that NSFW :p

          Oh. Well, there’s a nipple, and some bosses are very particular about stuff like that… My workplace don’t have that problem, though.
