Nier Selling Out In Japan

By Ishaan . April 27, 2010 . 7:39am

It looks like Kaine is working her charm on Nier’s sales. According to multiple local reports, Nier Replicant for the PlayStation 3 is sold out in Japan. Square Enix have promised a new shipment will be arriving over the weekend to appease fans.

The interesting things is, while Nier Gestalt for the Xbox 360 is still available, the less effeminate version of the game isn’t easy to find either. This could likely be because fewer copies of Gestalt were shipped in the first place.

Watching Nier on the sales charts should give us something to look forward to…although, we’re not entirely certain if Media-Create operate during Golden Week, which begins this Thursday.

  • That face just screams “Do not buy” to me. Sorry. Now Record of Agarest War is due out today. :)

  • masuto

I getting both Agarest and Nier.

  • Masengan

    “the less effeminate version…” ouch.

  • Guest

This game looks fucking terrible what is wrong with people…

    • Tokyo Guy

Well the graphics are quite poor (tons of fog used for example) and the character designs are absolutely hideous, but the game itself is somewhat like Twilight Princess actually…

  • Aoshi00

I noticed it was sold out on Amazon Jpn (actually the ver w/ the bonus soundtrack). I want to get Replicant after trying out NIER, my US copy was shipped today, I hope it wouldn’t be rare later on or something… I still want to get the pre-order bonus disc even though I bought the separate soundtrack.

The dissing is unwarranted due to people not liking the caveman or girly Jpn hero. But it sounds like the game is actually very good, looks good to me from the gameplay videos I’ve seen.

  • EvilAkito

I’m a little curious about this game, but my expectations aren’t that high. Square Enix has always been pretty hit-or-miss with me, but nowadays, they’re mainly just “miss.”

  • Tokyo Guy

I think this is much more an issue of the 4 Warriors of Light scenario- Square didn’t ship enough so it sold out.

And I think it’s important to specify WHERE it sold out; Tokyo is one thing but these kind of reports make it seem like the game is nowhere to be found anywhere in the country. As I’ve said numerous times, you can easily go outside of the main parts of Tokyo and find all kinds of “sold out” or “limited edition” items that can’t be found inside.

  • なんだ、あの女?下着しかつけてないぞ?
nanda, ano Onna? Shitagi shika tsuketenai zo?
What’s up with that woman? She’s only wearing underwear‽

  • sales are out and it only sold 60k, the 360 version doesnt seem to have charted in the top 30, the world makes sense again
