Viz Publishing First Vampire Knight DVD In July

By Ishaan . May 1, 2010 . 9:40am Pop-culture coverage site ICv2 are reporting that VIZ have scheduled the launch of the Vampire Knight anime for July 20th. Going on sale for $19.97, the vol. 1 DVD will include a “mini-sampler” for the Vampire Knight manga as well.

VIZ also plan to market the release of the DVD heavily at the San Diego Comic-Con, Anime Expo, and even at certain Twilight conventions, which is rather apt, considering the direction Vampire Knight takes in later volumes.

Remember when this series was good?

    . . .
Anyway, good choice on Viz’s part, you know it’s going to make money.

    • Sigh. Sadly, I do remember. Then it took that horrible melodramatic turn instead of being the badass live-in-the-world-of-vampires show it should have been. :(

I wonder, has Seven Seas and Funimation tried marketing Dance in The Vampire Bund in Twilight conventions? I kind of doubt it though, due to some of its subject matter (underage romance, loli fan “service”)

I heard that the company who picked up the anime is going to be censoring a lot of the more questionable elements. Perhaps it might gain some popularity at a Twilight convention, with the whole vampire-werewolf-human love triangle.

At least we can all say that Vampire Bund does vampires far more competently than Twilight.
And despite the anime version being censored, Seven Seas’ excellent translation of the manga is out in bookstores. And quite possibly without shrink wrap.*facepalm*

Maybe they’ll release the DS game to the U.S. now?

I’ve been thinking of checking this out, but if it’s like Twilight, I’m going to hate it.
