During their investor call earlier today, Ubisoft management were questioned regarding how significantly they felt 3D games like Avatar on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 would contribute to their revenue in the future. While the company refused to give revenue estimates, citing unpredictable factors such as the price of 3D TVs, they did confirm that 3D was an avenue they were interested in pursuing on consoles.

Not so mysteriously, they added: “Maybe also on portable machines.”

Ubisoft estimate that 15-20% of their console games will be 3D compatible by next year, and that the figure could rise to 50% the year after that.

NOOOOOOOOOOOMany of us that have a DS will know that they are responsible for the 85% of the shovelware that has appeared in this handheld (imagine this, imagine that, and almost anything that ends with ‘Z’).Is truth that ubisoft has developed an published some really good titles, unfortunately that’s not case on the DS and for that reason this hint is really bad news to me.I just hope that this only end in a pretention because I don’t wanna see the first batch of shovelware on the 3DS too soon.

I know. What annoys me the most is that Ubisoft uses the DS as a shovelware cash cow yet doesn’t even try to make one good DS game. >:(
