Konami Sold More Games On Wii, PSP; Less On PS3

Konami’s sales across all the different consoles they publish games on saw a slight shake-up in 2009, compared to the year prior. Here’s a quick comparison of what unit sales were like across the different platforms. Wii and PSP took a larger software share this past year where Konami published Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Tokimeki Memorial 4.

Notice the drop of METAL GEAR in fiscal year 2010. That also explains the drop in PlayStation 3 unit sales.

  • Did Konami even release any PS3 titles, except for the Network stuff, last year?

I was about to comment that I can’t name anything Konami released on PS3 during the last fiscal year.

But in reality, I can’t name a decent Konami title for the last fiscal year for ANY platform.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii) is really very good, so there’s one.

We have radically differing opinions of that game. It was better than Homecoming, but that isn’t saying very much.

    • Let’s see off the top of my head… Tornado Outbreak, Winning Eleven, Karaoke Revolution, Darksiders (Konami is tied to the Japanese version), and Pro Baseball Spirits 6 or 7 were on PS3.

      • I hope they aren’t surprised then, that their sales are down on the system. That’s a pretty awful lineup.

        • Perhaps, but “awful” games can sell well and “great” games can flop. Those subjective qualities, like beauty, are in the eye of the beholder. Of course this comment is not exclusive to Konami, it’s just something to consider in all situations.

Honestly I think the Pro Evo(really fun on the wii by the way) series is one of the few big hits aside from Metal Gear that really bring the bacon home as it were.

With that said I’m waiting on that Pro Evo 11.
