What Do Microsoft Have To Say About That $149 Kinect Price?

By Ishaan . June 14, 2010 . 7:11pm

Aaron Greenberg Earlier today, we reported a Gamestop listing that hinted at a possible launch price for Microsoft’s Kinect. According to Gamestop, the standalone device will retail for $149, when it launches this Fall, or at $299 or $399, depending on what Xbox bundle you purchase it as part of.

Microsoft’s director of product management for the Xbox brand, Aaron Greenberg, however, maintains that the prices on Gamestop are speculative, and not much else. On his Twitter feed, Greenberg wrote in response to the rumours, “No Kinect price announced yet, retail price estimates are purely speculative, final price & pack-in details are not yet
determined.”

Considering that in many gamers kinect generate gut reactions, gave the price in that moment it will equal to shot themselves on the foot, soo I think that the price is truth.

Kinect somehow reminds me of the 32X add-on. Actually, come to think of it, the new smaller 360 reminds me of the Genesis 2or3 redo.

at $150, Kinect is too expensive for casual gamers and too gimmicky for more hardcore gamers.

If it is at $150, I don’t think I’ll pick it up. But with a 360 bundle. Possibly. I have a current 360 already, but my god, if I can kill some space, match all my black systems, and have a quieter fan. I’ll put money down for that.

making the 360 play wii games, isn’t that umm ..stupid. Seriously anyone interested in kinects already has a wii, now xboxers are supposed to get excited about paying $150 to be able to flail around like idiots. M$ is killing it’s fan base, the resources put into making the kenict thing could have be used for something better. And considering that 95% of xboxers are at least 15 and most are over 18, they had better make some awesome games that appeal to older people that aren’t complete retards if they expect this thing to sell. If I want to run in place or dance around I don’t need a $150 system add on to do it, just a lot of alcoholic beverages.

$50 or bust MS! I already bought your original eyetoy that didn’t do anything… I’m not really interested in your advanced eyetoy.
