Square Enix’s Next Wii Game Is Mario Sports Mix

By Ishaan . June 18, 2010 . 3:50pm

Mario Sports Mix marks the third time Square Enix have worked on a game starring Nintendo’s mascot. The first, of course, was Super Mario RPG. The second was Mario Hoops 3-on-3, a basketball game starring Mario and Final Fantasy characters, for the Nintendo DS.

Sports Mix, while it’s closer to 3-on-3 in terms of genre, is more diverse. So far, we’ve already seen basketball, volleyball and hockey in the game. Whether or not there are more sports in Sports Mix remains to be seen.

    Dodgeball is in it too.

The volleyball was fun, basketball was too but in that case I’d rather just play NBA Jam.

I liked Mario Hoops 3-on-3 DS a lot although didnt like it enough to beat that FF b-ball at the end. But, yeah, NBA-Jam will probably be more fun.

I know it’s splitting hairs, but Itadaki Street DS was developed by Armor Project, while Squeenix simply published it.
