MangaGamer Bringing Limited Edition Hard Copy Games To Anime Expo

By Ishaan . June 28, 2010 . 3:19pm

KiraKira (All Ages) Box Anime Expo kicks off at Los Angeles Convention Center this Thursday, and MangaGamer are bringing a star-studded line-up of guests to the show with them. They’re also experimenting with physical releases of two of their more popular titles at the event.

For those at AX, MangaGamer are offering physical copies of Kira Kira (All Ages) and Higurashi (chapters 1-4) for an “an extra-special AX sale price.”

We asked head translator, John Pickett, what kind of pricing we could expect to see, and while the exact amount hasn’t been finalized, we were told they were
likely to be in the range of $20 – 30 each.

Holy crap! I want a physical copy of Higurashi SO BAD, but I cant go to AX :(
Is there any chance of these being sold on MG website later?

Doesn’t seem like it with these games. Someone asked if they’d have the hard copies available at Otakon, and John said it would depend on whether or not there were any left over from AX.

This first time’s more of an experiment to see how viable physical copies are for them. That said, you can try pestering him here: http://twitter.com/MangaGamer

I really hope that those retail edition are going to be available through sites like HimeyaPlayasiaetc instead of being an Anime Expo-only thing, I have bitched for Mangagamer games to go retail multiple times and I would gladly support them if they do.

It depends partially on whether or not retailers and distributors are willing to carry hard copies too.

I don’t really care about retailers/distributors. Sell them directly and I may just order.

Ohhh, I see baby steps. Few more steps MangaGamer, and you’ll have me as a customer.

I’d love to own PHYSICAL copies of Shuffle and Da Capo.

Definitely will be picking up the all-ages Kira-Kira.
MG is throwing a ball at AX this year.
Are any of the Siliconera staff going? They’re having a panel I think on Friday or Saturday.
