Valkyria Chronicles II Rolls Out On August 31

imageSega set August 31 as the release date for their portable version of Valkyria Chronicles.

Valkyria Chronicles II stars Avan, a fiery student who joins Lanseal after his brother Leon dies in battle. He’s the newest recruit in Class G, a military academy squad sent into battle. Valkyria Chronicles II uses a lower resolution version of the watercolor-esque Canvas engine and introduces multi-screen battlefields. Check out our impressions of the Japanese version for more details.

Want more Valkyria Chronicles II missions? Gamestop is giving away two downloadable exercise missions as a bonus.

Exercise vs. Class E – An exterminatory war exercise against rival class E using all the areas of Leanbluff Forest. Destroy all enemies in each area to win this challenge.

Exercise vs. Class F – A defense exercise against rival class F. Break through their stonewalling defense and take over their encampment to win this mission.

If Sega sticks to Japan’s DLC plan, Valkyria Chronicles II will have additional missions in the following months.

  • Woa! sooner than i expected it!! this is so cool!! im not gonna let my psp this year, not even a day lol.

Btw Spencer, this is unrelated to this article, but related to a psp game… i dont know if i missed it if you put it in any article, but how did last ranker did in japan? the game looks really high quality and it seems CAPCOM gave it a lot of work o.o…

    • Last Ranker just came out last week so we should see how it *ranks* (hahaha) this week.

      • lol xD, cool, i will be expecting this then >:D

  • FireCouch

    Pre-order bonus= dumb.

    • nyoron

      Retailer-exclusive preorder bonus = dumber

      • not living in the US and getting this game luckily in a month after its release = bad luck

    • kupomogli

I don’t mind preorder bonus’, but when the game is incomplete due to DLC, that’s what I dislike.

Portable gaming is usually the place to be now days if you want a game that is actually complete upon release, where as on the PS3 or 360 more than 50% of the games released have DLC released before or after the games release.

Sega is trying to boost sales by giving a preorder bonus, but releasing the extras as DLC and not on UMD is something I dislike. I see why they’re doing it though, considering how the PSP has mass piracy.

  • kariohki

Missions as a preorder bonus? Pretty cool I guess. I already preordered, too.

  • Electrium

I just beat the first one yesterday; I had no idea this one was coming out so soon.

Not a bad pre-order bonus…not great either, but it’s better than nothing.

  • holyPaladin

    Day one to get ^^

Don’t have PS3, been dying to play VC I :(

  • raymk

This DLC doesn’t have story content in it I think and its a free pre-order bonus so i really don’t care i just want the regular japan DLC (which were confirmed to get) and the game to play =D
