New Sengoku Basara 3 Assets Look Great

Sure, there’s a little Photoshop trickery going on here in the way of anti-aliasing, but the character models and textures in the screenshots below look fantastic. The real piece of gold, though, is the trailer above. I’m quite enjoying Monster Hunter Tri’s localization, but this takes things to a whole new level of entertaining.

“It may be cold, but the fire in my heart will keep me warm!”

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes will light fire in the hearts of Japanese people next week, and in those of its overseas fans in October. Rest assured, we’ll keep track of it.

Except for the fact that there’s no Japanese audio. Much of the series’ appeal lies in its stellar Japanese voice cast, so depriving it of such an important part of what makes Basara so great is very disappointing indeed. With the Blu-Ray’s limitless capabilities, they should have no excuse either (I’m not buying their crappy cross-compatibility excuse either: why restrict yourself from utilizing one console’s advantages, which would have given you greater appreciation from its fans and therefore much greater sales?). With other publishers like Namco Bandai and Sega taking this step (ie dual audio), Capcom are making a major mistake here by not implementing it (the first game failed in the States because of their rather insipid policies as well).

I think the Wii excuse is generally just that, given Samurai Warriors 3 features both dual audio and online co-op. Both should’ve been very much doable for Basara 3, on both platforms.

      Nintendo does what Capcom don’t…

      • Capcom puzzles me. First they decide to not alter the game’s setting (good, good!), then they decide to bring a game about ancient Japan without Japanese audio. No thanks Capcom, I’ll either import this or not get it at all.

Samurai Warriors 3 PAL was on a dual layer DVD, with plenty of artifact-free movies and hours of dialogue. And there was plenty of unused space left on the DVD.

I’m genuinely interested in the Wii version’s file size.

  • Good god. Here’s hoping they have Japanese voice options…

Pretty sure it was announced the NA version only has English. Which is why I’m importing :P

      • What a waste. I feel that Capcom will lose twice as many sales to fans who would rather import due to lack of Japanese audio than they will gain from new purchasers. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I’ll be importing it too.

Oh wow, guess it’ll be bugging my friend to hunt for 2nd hand copies or bargain copies someday then. Don’t have my PS3 yet, so I can afford to wait some more.

Uesugi Kenshin sounds like a cross between a witch and a hobbit….

Heres hoping the PS3 verison of this game requires no “trickery” as there is no way the PS3 version should not look as good if not better then these shots, especially since thats the version I will be buying.

    • MrBushido

Me too. Plus, the PS3 version (like any other PS3 game) will never be pirated, so it signifies value for money. The lack of dual audio is the main reason I am importing the game.
