Fan Produces Homemade wipEout Arcade Racer…Sort Of

What happens when you have a lot of cardboard, a wireless camera, an arcade unit and a reasonably fast remote-controlled car? A real life wipEout arcade racer, that’s what!

Malte Jehmlich is the Frankenstein behind this awesome project, and he tried to match the feel of an actual wipEout track as closely as possible, while arranging the track in a way that made it easy to put together and take apart.

rar, that’s all kinds of badass~! Although I’m not a big racing game fan, (I enjoy my kart racers a fair amount though >w<) I do really enjoy the look of Wipeout, the crispness, and visual aesthetics to it's cars. I've been wait for a sale on Wipeout HD on my PS3, but all they've done is add more content to buy, thus making it even more expensive lol x_x' I wanna pick it up sooner or later, but I just know it'll chew me up and spit me out.On topic though, I really enjoy the novelty of this concept, it’s something about the arcade cabinet making you feel like your driving something normal size, but in reality your driving a mini RC car, in it’s own mini world. I really kind of hope they continue and make more karts and tracks, I’d totally pay to play a few rounds on something like that >w<; It's maybe hits on a soft spot, as memories of being a little kid and driving a little RC car through the grass and trees around my old house, it made our mundane yard interesting.

Even though I’ve already seen that way back, it is still badass.

  • Wow that’s amazing!

I would love to try that out, even though I suck at racing games.

I think I’ve seen this exact same thing done with an Outrun machine. I can’t remember where I saw it, but it’s likely the Seganerds blog covered that one.
