God Eater Burst Will Have Free DLC, Too

The original God Eater was blessed with free downloadable content post-release, so it isn’t surprising that Namco Bandai are doing it again for God Eater Burst, with the intention of improving upon the first game.

DLC is just the beginning of the a long list of improvements

The game’s director also recently confirmed that a demo of Burst will be made available prior to release.

I think in this day and age DLC is essential for all games.

    • Only if the DLC is done right. Having unlock codes for DLC is just stupid. And paid DLC, if it’s just not worth it, shouldn’t be overpriced ($15 for three maps for Modern Warfare 2? Sign me up!)

I agree although I wouldn’t mind paying much if the DLC was decent ($15! for three maps? Rip off should be $5), I never understood the point of Unlock codes either.

I don’t mind unlocked DLC as long as it’s free. It gives you something to look forward to and prolongs the game. And if I may be so bold as to say that it is one of the better ideas to combat used games sales (rather than paying for online when you log in with a used game like some company – EA I think?- was suggesting). I think they could even expand this to combat piracy a la the codes detecting something strange in the emulation, although I’m not that tech savvy, so maybe this might not be feasible with some games/systems.

        • Paid DLC shouldn’t detract from the game experience. Borderlands has it set up where there’s the main game, and there’s additional content. The additional content costs extra money. However, the DLC adds to the main game, and isn’t actually part of the main story (as far as I know). It’s not required to play the main game, and doesn’t detract from the story if you don’t own it.

There’s probably a better example, but I can’t think of one right now.

I’m not suggesting paid DLC is bad. I’m just suggesting if it’s DLC that unlocks something in the game already, it should be free. I’ve picked up a few DLC packs off PSN for money, so I’m definitely not against it. I was just clarifying that in-game DLC (like for Professor Layton with the weekly puzzles) can be a powerful tool against used games without penalizing the consumer. And it should be free. :)

I wonder if lord of arcana will have free dlcs? Probably not. that and the weapons, gameplay, and graphics makes god eater much better monster hunter clone. And why do people and I call call it a clone? it’s not like monster hunter was the only game that had you hunt monster before or it’s it?
