Toys “R” Us just revealed a promising Epic Mickey collector’s edition set from Disney. There’s a list of what comes in the package below, but the behind-the-scenes DVD is what I’ve got my eye on, personally. Let’s hope there’s more behind-the-scenes videos than marketing assets on it.

Epic Mickey Collector’s Edition contents:

  • Special packaging
  • Disney Epic Mickey Game
  • Exclusive 5 inch Collectible Vinyl Epic Mickey Figure
  • Special Edition DVD with behind the scenes footage and additional marketing assets and videos
  • Epic Mickey Stylized Wii Remote Faceplate
  • 2 Epic Mickey Stylized Wii Console skins

I’m actually not that surprised that Toys Я Us will have the collector’s condition. Hmmm…. I wonder if I can get a Black Friday deal on it.

The edition looks pretty nice, the figure, however I can only visualize myself getting it if it the game gets universal ~95% review scores. The videos that have been shown of it do not look that appealing I think, though the concept of the game sounds appealing.

I was extremely underwhelmed by the videos at E3. First of all, the design isn’t nearly as fascinating as the one shown in the initial sketches (though it should’ve been obvious that Disney wouldn’t allow it). Second, the whole paint-or-cancel mechanic looks like a standard gimmick which you can only use it with preset areas (I’m assuming here), making it no different than any standard platformer. And finally, the controls looked really imprecise, like it would be difficult to make proper jumps and stuff.

Actually from more recent trailers, it looks like the erase function can erase anything in the game (well except for the backdrop). The trailer showed Micky erasing characters, houses, and trees. The paint, most likely, does have a set place it can only work, since the trailers up till now only show it undoing what the thinner erased and creating platforms to reach places.

That’s a Wiiremote faceplate or a decal? Looks like a decal?

Those skins for the side of the console?

Gotta love the colors or lack of I should say. The most un-disney thing ever.

Oh cool. This is EU as well, right? Hm… I doubt I will prioritize this over various other future releases, but for now it’s on my list of probable buys.
