Another KORG Music Workstation Coming To DS

By Ishaan . August 30, 2010 . 10:14am

Another KORG Music Workstation Coming To DS KORG DS-10, published by Xseed in North America, was a neat little piece of software that emulated the Korg MS-10 synthesizer on the Nintendo DS.

KORG DS-10, developed at Cavia, was produced by Nobuyoshi Sano, who is known best for composing music for Tekken, Ridge Racer, and Drakengard. KORG wasn’t a game in the least — it was a legitimate, full-blown music-creation on the DS. It was later followed up by a DSi-compatible version, KORG DS-10 Plus.

Now, Sano, along with with his own recently-established company, Detune Ltd., is working on the next piece of software in the KORG line for DS. Titled KORG M01, this one is based on the Korg M1 music workstation. It’s scheduled for a December 31st, 2010 release for 5,980 yen.

What about an overseas release? On his Twitter feed, Sano wrote in reply to a follower:

“I’m sorry it is for Japan only now… but we are preparing for international sales.”

can’t wait. now moog needs to get on it too.

Not worthy if it won’t export .mid files.

    • hadjimurad

why would you want to export this as midi? if you have something that reads midi, like ableton, etc., why wouldn’t you just compose in that? the point of DS-10 and this is to be able to use some of the historically great synths with ease and affordability, not act as a midi sequencer. i want these for the sound, not midi. if the world can experience the MS-10 and M1 for 29.99, it’s great.

Because if I’m composing or producing in a bus, I’d like to export that idea into my computer later. Unless you use the DS as part of your live set, then that’s ok.

that makes sense, if that’s you major concern; maybe there’s some smartphone app sequencer with wifi .mid export or something. didn’t mean to sound contrary. i was looking at it from the standpoint that i love these synths in ‘real’ form, but probably won’t have the cash any time soon to be the real thing, so i can perform and record with these. never really thought about the midi, cuz i want the sound.
