According the Electronic Arts’s internal estimates, Madden NFL 11 was the top-selling game in the U.S. during the month of August. If EA’s estimates are accurate, you should be seeing the game at the #1 (and likely #2 as well) spot on the NPD report in a couple weeks.

The catch, of course, is that Madden was released across the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and PSP. That doesn’t make EA’s statement untrue though. Additionally, EA have developed a Madden team management game for Facebook, titled Madden NFL Superstars.

No surprise here, half of what got EA where it is, is due to Madden. Still I have never been much for sports games besides Tennis (read Pong). I played Soccer, Baseball, Football and I never seen the allure of playing them as a video game(especially buying them every year). Though I will say this the last time I played on was NFL2K series, which I thought was way better then Madden.

Somehow, I always forget that Madden exists. I was thinking, “Starcraft, of course.” Then, I opened the article and was reminded that Madden is a game. I perceive Madden as a game the same way I perceive The Sims or Farmville. They simply don’t register despite their enormous popularity.
