New Ninja Theory Game To Be Announced At Tokyo Game Show

By Ishaan . September 14, 2010 . 12:47pm

Ninja Theory, developers of stylish-action game, Heavenly Sword, and of the upcoming Enslaved, are going to have a new game to show at the Tokyo Game Show this week. The news comes by way of the Ninja Theory Twitter account:

“The new Ninja Theory game will be announced at Tokyo Game Show this week.”

Earlier today, we reported a trademark we discovered, filed by Capcom for something called “DMC” and speculated that it could have to do with an upcoming Devil May Cry game, which, as Internet rumours have suggested for some time now, is being developed by Ninja Theory as well.

Of course, this announcement could also be an entirely new I.P. and have nothing to do with Capcom at all. We’ll find out soon enough…this year’s Tokyo Game Show kicks off two days from now on September 16th.

  • C’mon Strider! Strider a’la Metroid Other M *_**fantasizes*

(And yes, I know Ninja Theory is diff from Team Ninja XD)

    • Oh man, I think you just touched upon something even cooler than a Ninja Theory-developed DMC. ><

      • MisterNiwa

A Devil May Cry by Ninja Theory wouldn’t be cool.

These games shall belong to the original Japanese Developers but as Hideki Kamiya has no interest in doing any other Devil May Cry we won’t see any wonderful Devil May Cry anymore.

… Please.. let it not be Onimusha 5 by Ninja Theory.. That would be worse than Devil May Cry.

        • I’m guessing the reason they’re doing it is so they can free the DMC team to cook up something new, which would probably be interesting to see. But yea, who knows what this game is. DMC is the most likely, but there’s no telling for sure.

    • Guest

Not a fan of DMC so I’d definitely prefer a new Strider!

  • Errick

hmmmm?? not sure about Ninja Theory doing DMC

  • krokounleashed

A Team Ninja DMC would be cool, but Ninja Theory? Buargs. A new Strider would be cool, too.

  • shion16

Maybe its not Devil May Cry
    It could be…….Detroit Metal City

    • mirumu

That was my first thought too. Can’t imagine why Ninja Theory would pick up the Detroit Metal City license, but if they have I’d be amused to see what they do with it.

    • Yeeea. We had a little joke about that internally, too.

  • Aiddon

We never asked for NT to develop a DMC. Plus the newest Tweet reads “Happy 3rd Anniversary of Heavenly Sword.”

That being said, a new Strider would be awesome.

    • That tweet may or may not be related to the TGS one. It was made 10 hours later, which was why we didn’t mention it.

  • com one devil may cry for psp

  • Souji Tendou

DMC? Sure, as long as they’re not messing with the gameplay.
Strider? Sure, as long as they keep the formula on what makes a Strider game is Strider.

  • Ninja Theory does great work. I don’t know why everyone is whining about a Ninja Theory Devil May Cry. I think it’d be a wonderful combination

    • Aoshi00

I thought the same too.. Heavenly Sword was great and Enslaved looks to be even better.. well, I guess I’m not the biggest DMC fan. I’m glad w/ what Team Ninja did w/ Other M too since I’ve never been a big Metroid fan and Prime’s FPS wasn’t suitable for me (I ain’t the greatest at shooters).

The two games I’m most looking forward to now are Enslaved and Vanquish.

      • YES! I’m glad other people are looking at Enslaved and Vanquish. Both are new IPs that really deserve people’s attention. They’re probably not going to get a whole lot of marketing, but everyone should really look into those games.

Not to be rude, but what does Team Ninja and Other M have to do with this?

        • Aoshi00

I just meant I’m open to different developer bringing new ideas to a franchise. The older metroid games actually weren’t my cup of tea, but I like Other M. DMC too, maybe if Ninja Theory did it it wouldn’t be a bad idea because i don’t have any preconceived notion as I’m not a hardcore fan of the franchise.

Unfortunately I don’t see Enslaved or Vanquish selling a lot either because they’re new IPs, just like Bayonetta or Nier, but they are some of the GotY for me.

  • thebanditking

Seriously? I am not amused Inafune, not one bit…….. Oh Kamiya please save DMC

  • Jayred_Potter

Though I am not sure about Ninja Theory doing DMC, I am looking forward to another game in the franchise

  • Bruce

    is that vergil ?!
