Project Draco Brings Sounds Like Panzer Dragoon For Kinect

By Ishaan . September 15, 2010 . 9:10pm

Here’s another Xbox Live Arcade game that Microsoft are publishing in collaboration with a Japanese developer. While the only available image is the teaser art above, Project Draco is developed by Yukio Futatsugi, creator of Phantom Dust. Futatsugi-san has also worked on several Panzer Dragoon games.

Project Draco sounds like Panzer Dragoon, too. Microsoft describe it as an “epic 3D flying shooter.” The catch is, the game uses Kinect, and has you nurturing and communicating with your dragon to help develop its skills and train it in combat. Draco also includes online multiplayer over Xbox Live.

Once again Microsoft snagging something I was JUST thinking about the other day they should remake.

They must be reading my mind…

Sounds pretty cool…wait XBLA I thought this was a retail game? First I heard of this.

EDIT: siliconera got these Kinect titles mistaken for XBLA offerings.

I own every single panzer thing ever that I could get hands on. even have saga from when it came out in stores. I am such a huge fan. I got the original xbox just to play ORTA. I hope this is at least a spiritual successor.
damn i really didn’t give a crap about i might be so if this turns out well.

Sounds good, I know Jpn would come thru for making some interesting games for Kinect. I got the original Xbox for Orta too (and Shenmue 2). And XBLA titles are cheaper too than the full price Kinectimals and such. There’s something I want from both Kinect and Move, it’s like buying 2 new systems…

They have their info wrong All the Kinect games shown are retail games not XBLA titles. Fire Pro-Wrestling and the treasure shooter were the only things announced for XBLA.

I see, that makes sense, and a retail game for Panzer Dragoon would be all the better :) I was worried being XBLA would be lower budget. That’s a title I wouldn’t mind getting at full price :)

      • Happy Gamer

wow i just noticed they should bring the panzer games to Live arcade or PSN.
if they remade/redraw/HD it would be nice but it’d be happy with originals.(altho newer people may not so i guess HD ver)

i still hope and pray for compete saga remake. :) i can hope lol

If we’re getting Sonic Adventure and Radiant Silvergun on XBLA, maybe the Panzers wouldn’t be far too, I liked the Saga RPG and Orta the best though. And this one being a retail game, as LORDMATRIX2004 pointed out, is great news.

Spritual successor to Panzer Dragoon! WOW, I love the Saturn PD games, I even imported the PS2 version of Panzer Dragoon. I guess using Kinect will give Project Draco a more immersive experience.

  • malek86

    Successor to Panzer Dragoon?

Well, here’s hoping you can use the controller too… or I’ll have to get a Kinect…

  • Scallion

I really want a Phantom Dust sequel.
What was there in the original game was good, but it needed to be bigger, and could use some tweaking (the controls felt weird, and some of them were stupid, and being forced to collect spells on the field? Lame)

  • They probably don’t see it selling extremely well hence why they are probably bringing to XBLA and not as a retail release….not surprising honestly since Orta didn’t do to well sales wise on the original Xbox (although I blame more SEGA for not pushing it harder with marketing and whatnot although again maybe it shouldn’t of been exclusive kinda like Jet Set Radio Future shouldn’t have been exclusive).

    • LORDMATRIX2004

It is a retail Kinect game it is not XBLA. Siliconera is the only site that mistaken this as an XBLA game. Radiant Silvergun and Fire Pro-Wrestling were the 2 XBLA announcements while the others were all new Kinect retail games.

  • thebanditking

Still not interested, Kinect will just ruin this with terrible controls.
Scratch that, this is not a new Panzer game just one inspired by it. Sure the series creator is on board but its not officially a Panzer game(and I could not be more relieved).
