Action RPG Zenonia Arrives On DSiWare

Zenonia is an action-RPG originally developed by Korean developer, Gamevil, for the iOS, Android, Zeebo and even Windows Mobile. Two years later, it’s finally on DSiWare. We originally found an OFLC rating for it in May.

Zenonia’s been compared to The Legend of Zelda, but it actually draws inspiration and features from a variety of RPGs. For one thing, the protagonist, Regret, can be one of three character classes, including Paladin, Warrior or Assassin. There’s a strong emphasis on finding and equipping loot, too, and Regret’s appearance changes depending on what you outfit him with.

Like Diablo, the game has different classes of items — normal, magic, rare, unique and epic — and there are skill trees involved in customizing your character. There’s even a little bit of Pokémon influence in there with realtime day and night cycles. Additionally, there’s a weight and hunger management system, too.

Actual role-playing is also a part of Zenonia. Choices within the game let you lean toward good or evil. You can grab it for 800 DSiWare points.

OK looks pretty cool to me, though as always wish it were a retail release.

  • I wonder if the 3DS will be backwards compatible, Ive wanted to try this out. It would have been cool to give it a retail release with all the bells and whistles of an updated version, voice acting, reworked music, dlc.

    The game is pretty nice

It will be BC with DS and DSi

I’m usually not into these action-RPG’s, Summon Night-style, but this one does sound interesting with its customization options and the graphics are decent enough I don’t get turned off by them. And being a DSiWare title I won’t have to pay the box for it, so yeah, I’m interested.

  • I tried the demo of this on my Android and it was pretty cool, of course with my huge backlog I just don’t have the time for it, I would have bought it otherwise.

  • Tks. Why Dsi again??? T_T

Cause they dont want anyone to play it

  • Wow, what a way to spend 20 dollars over the next week or so on DSiWare.

First it was Shantae getting locked in for 1200 points this next week, now this for 800.

At least I found what to do with those stray 800 points.

From what I saw, it reminded me of some of the Shining series entries on the GBA.

Looks pretty good, I’ll have to get it when I get a 3DS
