Dead or Alive: Dimensions Has “Smashing” 3D Effects

By Ishaan . September 29, 2010 . 3:31pm

Interesting that the trailer for Dead or Alive: Dimensions opens with Ryu Hayabusa, who is more of a guest-star to the series, but is arguably more popular with fans by way of Ninja Gaiden. Team Ninja also have a Ninja Gaiden game in development for the 3DS, but details of this project have yet to be shared.

Dimensions is a chronicling of the first four Dead or Alive games in terms of story. Team Ninja are hoping to attract new gamers to the series by allowing them to get caught up first. As with the team’s other projects, Team Ninja leader, Yosuke Hayashi, is involved with its development.

While you can’t see the effect in the trailer above, Tecmo Koei tell us that the 3D effect on the 3DS will be most prominent when you’re smashing someone through a wall or a church window. Dimensions doesn’t have a release date yet, but stay tuned.

Smashing indeed! Well this is one game my eyes shall be following closely.

Now why wouldn’t they make an Xtreme Volleyball 3D? It’s so obvious a move! That’s pre-made money right there!
…Actually, that’s shameless and I hope they don’t do it. But they probably will.

What is this I hear? Does this mean there will be… A DOA5!? I sure hope so.

Why focus on the boring ass characters?

    • Hraesvelgr

Isn’t that what DOA has always done? Focusing on the characters or cheap fanservice.

Pretty much. You’ve gotta count your blessings if the fan service is lost on you, because this is the best you’re gonna get.

Surprisingly, I thought a lot of Dead or Alive 3′s endings were really cool.

I’m getting this, but what i want even more is Ninja Gaiden. Very sad, they didn’t show anything of this yet. The DS Ninja Giaden was really good.

      You mean Ninja Gaiden 3?

      • krokounleashed

No, beside Ninja Gaiden 3 there is also a Ninja Gaiden for 3DS in developement.

It just occurred to me that “dimensions” refers to how it’s in 3D. Har.

Something tells me that certain something(s) will probably be more prominent in this game.
