Square Enix Running 4 Heroes of Light Contest For Members

Along with these videos explaining the Crown and battle systems, Square Enix also sent word of a Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light contest that they’re running from now until October 22nd. The gist of it is that you need to design a new Crown for 4 Heroes of Light, complete with its own ability set. You can read more about this here.

The contest is open to those with a Square Enix Members account, and there’s a Nintendo DSi and free copies of 4 Heroes of Light on the line if you’re interested in trying your hand at crafting a Crown. The first prize winner also gets a framed picture of his/her crown drawn by the game’s Crown designer, Yuka Miyamoto.

  • I love the character designs too bad I’m skipping this game for the time being, too busy with other stuff.

I might actually participate in this contest. I don’t actually necessarily need to win (my brick DS still suits me fine) but I think that the creation aspect would be really fun.

I hope Square-Enix will show a gallery of submissions once the contest is over.

Huh. That reminds me of a time when I registered for something Square Enix-y after buying one of their games a while ago; something to do about a points redeeming system. I think I may have to check up on this.

Huh. The crown system sounds like a mix of Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced with… uh, FF5. Revisiting classic ideas is never a bad thing, kind of like re-reading a good book, but there are only so many times I can read the same pages before it starts getting boring.

Off topic: if you haven’t already, go to the library and look up “Catch-22” by Joseph Heller and “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova.

Neat. I think I’ll try designing one. I’ve got a SE member account already too. :D
