http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/cross_game.jpg Last week, Viz announced they had acquired the license to Kaori Yuki’s gothic shoujo series, Grand Guignol Orchestra. This week, they’re going in an entirely different direction with Cross Game, a a romantic comedy based around life and baseball, by Mitsuru Adachi.

The North American volume 1 of Cross Game will release on October 12th for $19.99 U.S. / $27.00 CAN, and will contain the first three Japanese volumes of the series. Subsequent releases published by Viz will include two Japanese volumes each at $14.99 U.S. / $19.99 CAN.

In case you want to give the series a trial run, Viz have episodes of the anime series streaming for free on their anime website.

If they continue to do series with releases like these then people may be more compelled to buy into manga since digital alternatives are still limited to some titles from other publishers or er bl/yaio offerings…

Though Viz does not seem to be announcing new animes anymore Ive noticed. :( I think the animation looks odd but I usually do not get into sports type series. I guess I like my shonen battle mangas, lol.

I have this manga already on my to-buy list, though I didn’t notice it was a 576 page volume o_O

This is his recent kinda sorta retelling of Touch with the genders reversed, right?

Yeah sort of. Don’t want to spoil anything here by explaining further.

You will however find out about it at the beginning of the manga. I think it was the 1st chapter….

The end of the 10th chapter/1st regular sized volume/1st anime episode actually.

Here is hoping Adachi Mitsuru’s works will find new fans on North America.

Good story, but as always, i dislike this mangaka’s endings, so wide open endings
