Fantasy Life Promotional Video Looks Great, But Isn’t Very Informative

If the idea of Mother 3 developer, Brownie Brown, working on a new game with superstar artist, Yoshitaka Amano, sounds intriguing to you, here’s your first look at such a title.

Fantasy Life is being developed at Brownie Brown under the supervision of Level 5. The game was originally a Nintendo DS title and was announced last year at Level 5’s Vision 2009 press conference. Since then, the game has been moved to the Nintendo 3DS and given a visual makeover.

Judging by the trailer, Fantasy Life looks like it borrows elements from both Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. We’re not sure if there’s any combat in the game either. There appear to be characters in the game that undertake various professions, ranging from fishing to to mining to performing magic.

All we really know so far is that the game will feature some sort of emphasis on communication between players and that it’s based on the concept of living in a fantasy world.

Fantasy Life is being composed by veteran composer, Nobuo Uematsu, and oh, and in case you’re wondering…yes, Brownie Brown are still a subsidiary of Nintendo.

Looks much more charming in motion than in those previous screens.

  • Yui

Looks, and sounds, beautiful. Besides the jarring fact that I’ve heard that “collective gasp” in SSBB, I have no issues with that trailer. =D

  • Looks like Level 5 has another hit on thier hands.

  • Cannot wait for this and “Canvas” mode. 3DS is going to be awesome

  • Now that I’ve seen a video, it doesn’t look(art style wise) as Dark Cloud-ish as I thought it was…….I’d say it’s more like a hybrid mix of various Level 5 games into one. Looks pretty charming!

  • As a Harvest moon/rune factory die hard fan, animal crossing (only gamecube) fan as well, loving these games that “simulate” life in a way, and knowing this one will, somehow, do the same (but with more stuff), I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH WAITING THIS OMFG, LEVEL 5 AMERICA’S OFFICE, GET TO WORK!!!.

They still dont have a main page right? the LEVEL-5 america’s branch

I don’t know… I like Uematsu’s music and all, but it doesn’t seem to fit quite right here. When cycling off to buy the day’s groceries you don’t need a full blown orchestra; simple jaunty whistling suffices.

I think Uematsu has done his fair share of light hearted music, he did it for past FFs, especially IX, also for Blue Dragon on 360 and Sakura Note on the DS. The composer is quite versatile you know, he did jazz fusion for Anata wo Yurusanai. I’m not sure if this game is for me if it’s life sim/communication game like Animal Crossing, I’m always eager to hear more Uematsu music, don’t care about FF14 MMO though..

    • You would prefer replacing that majestic theme with whistling? It’s not like the orchestra is in tutti.

  • Soma

    This game looks incredibly charming.
I have a strong feeling that I’m going to be playing this A LOT once it’s released.
I mean, how can you ignore a game from some of the greatest in the industry? Amano, Uematsu, Brownie Brown, and Level 5 … so awesome. :D

Looks adorable. I’m always up for a more fantasy-oriented Animal Crossing-like with more to do. Liked Magician’s Quest, so I will probably like this as well.
