Udon, continuing their focus on Capcom properties, are publishing a two-volume Street Fighter manga series, titled Street Fighter Gaiden. The short series focuses around the classic cast of World Warriors from Street Fighter II.

Here’s a quick summary from Udon:

“Written and drawn by Mami Itou (Darkstalkers/Red Earth, ROBOT, Pilgrim Jäger), Street Fighter Gaiden spotlights the World Warriors’ adventures outside the tournament scene. The series is made up of short stories each devoted to a classic Street Fighter character.

Fan-favorites like Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, and Guile each get their due, as do many other skilled fighters. Cammy teams up with Delta Red against the narcisitic Vega, T. Hawk has a desert showdown with Balrog, Fei-Long teaches everyone what it truly means to be a martial artist, and Ryu & Ken face off together against their deadliest rival – Akuma!”

Street Fighter Gaiden vol.1 will go on sale in North America on November 24th. Volume 2 will follow in January of 2011.

  • This sounds like an interesting series to keep an eye out for. It is out of my typical safe zone for manga (pirates, shinigami, ninja, over the top action), but still interesting. Chun-li, is always my favorite.

  • Apollokids

Why would you do that to Chun-Li’s face?

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

My first glance at that page gave me the impression that Chun-li had just finished baking a cake…

Mami Itou’s very ’90s artstyle is a good match for Street Fighter, and I like the idea of vignettes for each character.

  • ThunderGod_Cid

    Already have volumes 1 & 2 preordered.

To the great artist of street fighter PLEASE stop making the females so buff and Muscular no one likes that…. it just burns my beautiful eyes
