The link takes you to the picture above. It’s a zoomed-in version of an image tweeted by Ono recently, as a tease for one of the new characters in the upcoming arcade edition of Super Street Fighter IV./p>

 

Note that Ono doesn’t give the question a definitive yes or no reply.

    I hope it is Charlie, he’s the character I’d like to be added to the game the most.

    The other popular theories is that it’s rather Urien or Alex in that picture. Those characters would be great choices too, but I’m really pulling for Charlie.

      I agreed — looks exactly like Adon. That was my first thought too. Although I GUESS I could see it being Alex. My vote is no way it’s Charlie.

    It seems they are getting ready to announce Super Street Fighter 4 Turbo for next Spring. Adding the final characters from older games, and then giving us maybe one or 2 new characters. Capcom! You milk a game like no other! Well your at least tied with Namco and their DBZ games!

      Well, Ono had already said that he wanted the new characters to be DLC for SSFIV, which I would be very happy with, as I don’t want to buy another disc.

    I really hope it isn’t Charlie. He’d be a complete waste of a slot. The game already has Guile. We don’t need someone who is a complete clone, gameplay-wise. There’s already like 50 shotos.

    I don’t see it as Charlie, though. It originally looked like Urien to me, but now, with the hair, I’m definitely thinking Alex. The character is definitely shirtless and what I thought was a thong could very well be the folded overalls.

      100% agreed on Charlie. Plus SSFIV is full of different grapplers(which we never see in a SF game ever) so Alex would fit in really well.

      I think it’d make sense to just do a Charlie costume (hair and all) for Guile instead of taking a slot.

    It’s either Urien or Alex and I’d take either one. I’d take Poison too…..

    SSFIV:T won’t happen as SSFIV:Arcade Edition has just gone gold…though they found a problem and fixing it currently for it’s release in December. Ono is now working on SFxT.

      You are not the only one, I want Elena in the roster too, unfortunately it appears that are very few Elena fans and for some strange reason Poison has more fans than her.Anyway I still have hopes that they decided to include Elena in SSFIV 3DS.

    Doesn’t really look like Charlie to me. I can tell from the pixels. I wouldn’t mind him, though honestly I would prefer Remy. But I’d rather have Elena or Poison. Less clones.

        I’m confused as to why people always assume because two characters share a similar move-set that they must be related story wise. It’s the same thing before 3rd Strike came out that people started rumors that Makoto was Ryu’s sister because they had similar clothing. Not to mention the story never actually goes anywhere.

          It’s not illogical to assume connections from moves. Many characters who share trademark specials or are head-swaps in Street Fighter ARE related story wise. All the “shotos” are related in some way through the story. Yun and Yang are twins. Juli and Juni are Shadaloo dolls like Cammy once was. Charlie is Guile’s war buddy. The same can be found in other fighters, like KoF.

          The Makoto rumor makes little sense because many schools of martial arts wear plain GIs.

          Actually Makoto “was” supposed to be Ryu’s sister. Her early design was basically a version of Sakura that they scrapped….well that along with the idea of Ryu being her brother. Capcom thought it would be too difficult to explain their story so it eventually went to waste.

            It was in one of those “All About etc” Info books that always release in Japan.

            But If you want, just check the Street Fighter Plot Guide by Tiamat and vasili10. :). They’re basically the 2 most knowledgeable and respected SF info people on everything and anything Street Fighter. They basically compiled every Official Street Fighter/Final Fight/Slam Masters info released from characters, quotes, stories, relationships, etc and put it in there. Their sources are at the bottom.

            If you don’t wanna go through it(since it’s freakin HUGE), here’s basically the part.

            “Originally, Makoto through at least 1 discarded design for Sakura was
            planned to be Ryu’s sister, but Capcom eventually scrapped that idea when they
            decided it’d be too difficult to make a reasonable explanation for her (her
            existence, not knowing Ryu until now, nevermind Ryu’s mother dropping Ryu off
            at Gouken’s but not her or such). Too bad, really. Even before 3S hit the
            arcades, the floating theory upon seeing her for the first time was that
            “white gi & headband + Japanese looking = Ryu’s little sister” according to
            AAC’s entry on Makoto.

          In his defense, Remy’s ending in Third Strike does hint that his deceased father was a previous Street Fighter character. I always assumed it was Charlie, simply because 1) Charlie is dead and 2) they do share a moveset. But it’s never been said, out-right who Remy’s dad is.

    If they put in Charlie, that would suck. I mean he is exactly like Guile. Urien would be so much better.

    Strangely, most of the comparison screenshots I’ve seen are very convincing, including this Charlie one.I’ve also seen this compared to Yang (because of the hair), Urine (because of the legs), and Alex (because of the hair and legs).

    One of the big problems was that a lot of Street Fighter characters had similar crouch poses.

    Looks like Adon with the Alternate clothing, if you peek at the picture, has same hair style and cheesy grin
