Alchemist aren’t just porting 07th Expansion’s PC build of Umineko no Naku Koro ni over to the PS3 — they’re giving it a complete visual overhaul. Up above is proper ingame footage from TGS.

If you’re new to the world of visual novels or just to Umineko itself, you can read this previous post on the game to see what the fuss is all about.

When it ships in Japan, Umineko will come with a set of saucy pre-order bonuses for those willing to spend a little extra money.

  • Speaking as a fan, it looks so amazing *_* Can’t wait to import it!

  • Looks awesome but it look like for people who hasn’t played or refuse to play the pc version. I guess people who would only want to play a game with better art would have to wait for a long long time for chiru to finish.

I’ve played every bit of Umineko translated into English, and I would be thrilled to play this. To me, because there’s so much to try and solve in Umineko, the games have a huge amount of replay value, and prettier visuals would only add to that.

      • Not to mention replaying makes you see hints you might have passed on the past playthroughs. I playes Higurashi tons of times and had an idea who was the real culprit was before the final game came out :D (Though in this one I still don’t have a certainty D:)

        • *shrugs, you probably never know till the final game

    • Phlo

With all the major spoilers that were in that video, I’m not so sure.

  • Aksys you were looking into otome games right? Well this is pretty close, how about bringing it over?

    • SolidusSnake

Seems like a good idea, it appeals to both genders and the franchise has an established fanbase.

  • Can’t wait for it :P I think they gave toomuch highlights to scenes that were used in the anime (The battle between Virgilia and Beatrice from episode 3). But yeah, when I have money is a must buy *_* (Maybe a localization… I mean you can buy the english PC version already :D)

  • Phoenix_Apollo

I’ve been a part of the movement to get someone to localize this game. Hopefully, at some point, someone will try it.

  • Kris

Dang. Is it bad that I want this when I could only understand a tenth of it at best?
Here’s hoping some brave company will stave off Sony’s “no VN” policy and get this localized!
