PlayStation 2 Prince of Persias Headed To PlayStation Network

By Ishaan . November 15, 2010 . 11:28am

We already know Ubisoft are releasing a Prince of Persia: Trilogy collection, remastered  in high-definition with stereoscopic 3D support, for the PlayStation 3 in Europe. This collection contains The Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones.

We also spotted signs of individual PlayStation Network releases for all three games in Ubisoft’s latest financial report, however:

No release dates for the PSN games were specified in the report, but while the Trilogy collection is specified to be exclusive to Europe and the Middle East, the digital re-releases aren’t.

Prince of Persia: Trilogy is out November 19th at retail in Europe.

They shall be available first to Playstation Plus subscribers for 14.99 each…

Easy prediction to make, aye? Anyway, this is good news for I would finally be able to experience the games behind the epic and phenomenal movie. I loved that Prince of Persia movie this year (awesome choice for a main character and his interaction with the princess was so hilarious)

I’ve only played the PC Prince of Persia games. Never played any of the PS2 titles, so may import the collection how good everyone says they are.

The games in this trilogy were released on the Ps2 and PC, among other systems. So if you played them on the PC, they won’t be different from the PS2 versions

What I meant was I played the original Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2. I actually didn’t know the PS2 games were PC also.

Ah, I gotcha. These ones aren’t too related to the originals, though, so be wary; just because you liked the original ones doesn’t mean you’ll like the sands of time trilogy. Although, all of them are great games. These newer ones are a lot easier than the originals…I still remember trying to play through the original Prince of Persia. I’ve only done it once and then never again

I just looked it up. The original is an unlocked in the first Prince of Persia PS2 game. So that’s always awesome. No needing to use the instruction manual to find out what potion to drink at the end of each level to proceed either(I’m guessing.)

I just wish I did not have to import it to play it, Sony releases their HD remakes on a disc, so should everyone else.

I don’t remember, have they started putting PS2 games on PSN yet?

I salute you Ubisoft, more companies should do things like these, especially Square Enix.

Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and Chain of Memories would be nice
Final Fantasy X, and X-2 as well.

Well thats all that I want from Square Enix.

      Namco Bandai can do:
      Tales of the Abyss
      Tales of Legendia
      Tales of Symphonia
.Hack (always looked like an interesting series to me)

Thats all that I want, lol.

I would love for a HD KH lift since my PS2 died T.T

Screw this, if its not on a disc I’m not buying. Its a shame really because I would have liked to have the original trilogy on a blu-ray. Games like this are too large to be a download and will likely under perform because many will see it the same way I do. I know there are people who download their games (especially on XBL) but not nearly enough to make it a viable alternative to retail.

Perhaps alot of people bought the Infamous and the LittleBigPlanet and the Burnout Paradise and the God of War Collection, and so the sales of those titles showed to Ubisoft that their Prince of Persias, and Splinter Cells, and other games could do well.

How can they under perform digitally?

I’d rather import the game and own it on a disc.

Thank goodness the PS3 is region free, huh?

        Thank goodness indeed

I never played any of the PS2 PoP games. The only one I ever played was the old-school one on the Sega CD. I may download the first one of these and see if I like it enough to download the rest of them.

Wait…Sands of Time HD is on the Playstation Store already. That was quick.
