Give Personality To Mega Man Legends 3’s Townspeople

By Ishaan . December 7, 2010 . 9:14am

Capcom’s design-a-mech phase of the Mega Man Legends 3 fan-collaboration is nearing an end. Tomorrow will be the last day Tron Bonne fans will be able submit designs for a Bonne mech to be included in the game.

Now that the artists have had their fun, Capcom are calling on writers to make merry. The next phase of the fan-collaboration requires you to write names and dialogue for townspeople.

These are the three characters that need names and background profiles. You can head over to the Legends 3 devroom to read up on submission guidelines.

In the case of dialogue submission, the Male Digger has been replaced by a cop. Here, what you need to do is write up a memorable line for each of these characters. Submission guidelines can be found here.

You might also want to read up on the world of Mega Man Legends 3 and some character-creation tips from Capcom before you make any submissions, just to make sure you’re on the same page as the development team.

maybe the old man used to be a maverick hunter =O. That would be pretty cool. And the cop can be a newbie cop….Girl…..has some kind of dark past with mavericks and tries really hard to be happy all the time to forget those painful memories…i donno, just some random stuff lol

    • Exkaiser

      “Mavericks”? Whatchu talking ’bout?

      • ChaosPaladinFayt

        nothin`, sir o. o

  • evilmoogle

    For the old man,

    “look at my FABulous scarf!”

    • Chow

It’s an ascot!! AND it’s stylish!

  • LOL. pregnant Lady jajajajaja.Well… what about…Hmm…a badass guy or sexy lady eh? That sounds really more cool xD.

  • Look Capcom, if you want us to go ahead and make the game FOR you, just tell us. I’m really getting sick of all these, ‘fan collaborations’. Personally, I just think Capcom is being lazy and has NO idea what the hell to do with this title.

I already figured as much when they announced it, seeing as it’s on the Nintendo 3DS. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Let’s see here…

    Sony Playstation: Megaman Legends
    Sony Playstation: Megaman Legends 2
    Nintendo 3DS: Megaman Legends 3

Yep. Makes perfect sense to me! Christ, Capcom, get your act together.

      letting fans get in on the fun… i don’t see the problem here…? o_o;

    • What? They always made fans participate since megaman legends 1, they are just asking us do a lot now, wich is great, its not an everyday chance you can get something personal on a game.
And you have to do it againts a lot of people in the world

      • Exkaiser

They’ve had fan participation in the Megaman franchise since at least Megaman 6, even.

    • FireCouch

Yes, because making a game and allowing fans to have some input on minuscule parts of it = Capcom being lazy asses. Talk about being a selfish/ignorant dick. How about you stop being butt hurt about the game being on the 3DS. I can practically hear you whining and screaming about it.

      • Ya know, it would be fine if it was just, “some” input, but guess’s not. They keep coming back to the fans so much, if they keep this pace up, they’re going to have to include our names in the credits, lol. Capcom IS being lazy.

Simple as that. Also, there’s nothing, “selfish” or “arrogant” about wanting these guys to, you know..actually, oh, I don’t on the game? I guess I’ll go ahead and turn in my application to Capcom because apparently, they’re hiring. Anyway, how about YOU quit being so butthurt about it and just admit this was a stupid idea for Capcom to put MML3 on the 3DS as opposed to an HD console.

Oh, and that whining and screaming you’re hearing? Those are the voices in your head telling you, “WHY WON’T HE SHUT UP?! HE HAS A POINT! OH MY GOD!”. Go take your medication and you’ll be fine. This certainly isn’t the first time you’ve tried to ride my dick when I have expressed my opinion on something.

Take a clue already. No homo.

        • Caligula

You know, I think it would actually be a lot less work if they just made some designs, had the team decide on it in the matter of days, and make that one final. I hardly think making the process harder than it has to be can be called lazy.

Moreover, what’s wrong with including fans in on the process? You make it sound as if it’s a crime. If you don’t like it, here’s a novel idea: don’t buy the game! I think it’s actually kind of nice the developers want to get the fans involved in the process. And it’s certainly not unique among developers. Electronic Arts, for instance, often fields suggestions from fans about what to put into the next Sims expansion pack, and I would argue that the games they release are better for it.

        • Zeik56

          Please grow up.

Putting it on the 3DS is a perfectly sensible decision. Handhelds are not only cheaper to develop for, but in fact far more popular than any of the home consoles, especially in Japan. You clearly have a bias toward the HD consoles, but unfortunately for you not everyone does.

And you’re really trying to claim that they aren’t doing anything themselves? Do you know anything about the game development process at all? Having fans input on a couple character designs and a few lines of dialogue is an incredible insignificant portion of the development process.

      • Looks at comments….

You both have different opinions, and that’s fine, but can I kindly request some civility on both sides. Perhaps, a discussion without “riding dick” or “butt hurt”?

    • Exkaiser

Wow, your logic was so awful I couldn’t help but like your post. Here, let me apply your logic to another series with a similar situation.Sony Playstation: Dragon Quest VIISony Playstation 2: Dragon Quest VIIINintendo DS: Dragon Quest IXOr how about:Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Final Fantasy VSuper Nintendo Entertainment System: Final Fantasy VISony Playstation: Final Fantasy VIIOr even:Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Shin Megami TenseiSuper Nintendo Entertainment System: Shin Megami Tensei IISony Playstation 2: Shin Megami Tensei III: NocturneYep. Makes perfect sense to me! Christ, TetsuyaHikari, get your act together.

      • Your comeback is just as awful, lol. You couldn’t think of something better yourself, so you decide to twist my own words and throw them back into my face? Oh, that’s real original (and mature).

Well, since you put so much time into your, ‘witty’ reply, I’ll like your comment as well. Maybe that will help build up your self-esteem enough to where you won’t have to resort to using other people’s logic against them and can come up with something better on your own next time.

        Good game.

        • Exkaiser

What, you couldn’t defend your actual point and had to make an awful comeback to the least important part of my post? Nice to know you’re all bluster.

Why shouldn’t I use your logic against you? It’s a perfectly valid method of disproving it. If you can’t handle it, maybe you should stop posting your wonderful deductions online.

Oh, and nice one, playing the “mature” card. That’s sure to save you some face. Definitely.

        • Caligula

yes, I am sure Exkaiser has nothing better to do in his life than to sit around on siliconera and attack you for the sake of ameliorating his pitiful self-esteem.

          Get real.

I got one! for the Female Digger:

“The Female Digger is allergic to cuccos, so she has a hard time taking care of them and keeping them inside the pen. When young Mega Man first meets her, the cuccos will be running around all over the village. As the Female Digger cannot do it herself, it is Mega Man’s job to round them up and bring them back to their pen. For Mega Man’s help, she will reward him with an empty bottle.

    How’s that?

  • Tom_Phoenix

I “dig” the fact that there is a female digger character. :P

The pregnant woman looks weird, though. She actually looks more obese than pregnant.

  • MarkMario

Pregnant? Is that what she’s telling you guys?

  • Apache_Chief

I think the internet has more witty things to say than a couple of writers. Plus, having different people write different character dialog would make characters seem more real. Not everyone has the same vocabulary and outlook, and that would translate well to a city of individuals I think.

    • Zeik56

That’s debatable. There are some witty people on the Internet. However there are far more childish idiots who will likely try to submit a bunch of Internet memes as dialogue instead.

      • Apache_Chief

Well it’s not like the dialog box is a direct feed from /b/. But you’re right, I don’t envy the person who has to sift through the entries.
