Ikenie No Yoru Trailer Is Gory And Has A Theme Song

Ikenie no Yoru, as revealed by this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, is a horror game for the Wii that utilizes both the Wii remote as well as the Balance Board. We’re not quite sure how the latter is used just yet.

Published by Marvelous Entertainment, god bless their crazy souls, Ikenie no Yoru is about a sacrifice made to a god. Five college students somehow get caught up in the midst of this madness and need to find their way out of the mess. Famitsu.com have managed to source an exclusive trailer from MMV.

Ikenie no Yoru is currently slated for a March 24th, 2011 release in Japan. Hopefully, we get to hear what the rest of that theme song sounds like sometime.

  • Love that trailer. The music is fantastic too. If nothing else I think I’ll be picking up the soundtrack.

  • It also features the cast of Feel the Magic: XY/XX

That’s exactly what I thought! Although, those characters are kind of distracting…

That’s the first thought that came to my mind too. I should’ve picked up a Wii balance board for $65 during the Thanksgiving sale.. but then again I’m a scaredy cat so this game is not for me either… I guess this would work for Kinect too right, which would be more convenient. I was going to get it to play the new Super Monkey Ball, but I heard that sucks too just like Banana Blitz..

the song reminds me jigoku shoujo (hell girl)

  • Oh snap! Little girl, run!

  • puchinri

Heh. College students. That’s a refreshing change.

The music is great, especially that beautiful theme song.

Is MMV developing and publishing the game? Or simply publishing?

    • OneOkami

I think Marvelous gave up developing games.

  • $5 says Marilyn Manson made the theme song.

  • wow.. this is really creepy.. it will sure scare the crap outa me if i play it alone… XD

  • Ericha

I just hope the balance board is optional. It looks like a fun game, but I don’t want to buy a balance board just to play this one game. :/

Skull woman really startled me. :)

  • And this is really far fetched, but I think this could be a reason it uses the balance board:

The game was designed to use the vitality sensor (unreleased) to gauge the player’s fear, but they got informed by Nintendo that the release was pushed back or canceled.
So they had this nearly finished game on their hands, and they needed another device to measure the players fear.

Ju-on Wii uses the remote, but as you always move your hands around, it’s not that good of a fear indicator.
The balance board can read very subtle movements like trembling (there is also this Wii Fit minigame that punishes you for the slightest movement), and you could also use it while sitting down.

So yeah, that’s what I came up with.
