Next Tales Game Will Be Revealed Next Week

By Spencer . December 9, 2010 . 11:20am

Next Tales Game Will Be Revealed Next WeekTales of Graces F is out now and sold quite well on PlayStation 3. That means its time for Namco Bandai to unveil the next game in the Tales series.

Next week, we’ll see more of the PlayStation 3 game than the few pieces of art Namco Bandai shared. There’s a countdown on the game’s page with roughly six days left on the clock.

While the game’s name has not been officially revealed, thanks to some trademarks we found, it may be Tales of Xillia.

It’ll be nice to see more info on another game we won’t get in English :D

  • http://otoboku.se manga

Interesting, more games that we will never see in English…

I wonder why Namco Bandai throws a income as big as the Tales of series down the drain :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

In before every single reply is ‘too bad this will never come out in the US’

So far it looks like I was too late

    • Ladius

What do you expect? Siliconera dwellers for the most part aren’t fluent in japanese, or else they will probably follow the news on japanese sites. Of course Siliconera is right to cover all the Tales news, but on the other hand you can’t expect people to be happy about things they like and probably will never have the chance to experience first hand. It’s like a big tease, and since Tales news are quite frequent the same scenario is repeated here almost once every day.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Groce/100000039461956 Alexander Groce

Ladius has swayed me to his pov. I was originally going to say I agree with Love, but yeah, I can totally see why people complain. I mean sure you could try importing the game, but not everyone has the money to do so, let alone the means or time. And while I don’t think it benefits everyone to constantly rehash the same complaints I can’t condemn them for it.

        • Ladius

I too think that complaining is useless, if that had some meaning Namco would have revised its policies long ago.

That said, I think it’s also absurd to condemn people because of the localization whining: if you show someone a game he probably won’tcouldn’t ever play he is bound to be frustrated, and this situation is the rule for Tales fans.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

To be fair though, most of the Tales games that are worth playing are available in English. Destiny R, Naridun X and Rebirth aside, I can only imagine that a lot of people are going to be disappointed if the series’ back catalog is ever localized.

          • Ladius

Personally I don’t think that’s the case: I have no problem leaving to Japan the fanservice chapters like Fandom, Versus or World entries, but titles like Destiny 2, Rebirth, Destiny Remake, Hearts and Graces are on par or better than some of the localized Tales (I have finished ToR and ToDR and played ToH, I base my judgement on general consensus regarding ToG).
Phantasia Narikiri X too warrants attention since it is the best version of that entry.

Tempest, that outsourced half-mothership and half-assed entry is a bad Tales but it’s not worse than many jrpg that were localized in the Ds’ first period (Lunar Genesis makes Tempest shine like a gem, for example), and Innocence even with all its problems isn’t a bad jrpg at all.

          • fisico

I don’t think so sir, you can put away Narikiri X and replace it by Hearts and add Graces.
The problem is more about recent titles, Xilia is more or less the last chance for the serie to be localized outside of Japan, if it is not i’m afraid we can say it’s a “farewell” to the Tales series in the West.

And btw don’t forget european players, we never get Abyss Legendia and Destiny.

          • Exkaiser

To be fair, this is also the rule for a lot of other fandoms, but very rarely do they get as vitriolic as the Tales comments get.

While they have every right to be bummed out if things they’re interested in aren’t being localized, I don’t think it’s necessary or appropriate to make a fight out of it. I mean… You didn’t see anyone hating on Xseed when they denied having plans to localize Metal Max 3, for example. Most other fandoms quietly accept the lack of releases (Well, there are the select few in most cases, like that one guy on the Atlus USA forums for SRW), but the Tales fandom on Siliconera gets quite loud quite often- and this is why people get sick of them.

I think they should at least reel it in. Sometimes I feel like the complaining about taleshasnolocalizations gets to be more of a sport than a real outcry. At the very least, keep it off the posts unrelated to the series.

          • Guest

            Thank you!

          • Draparde

I think the issue is that the series was being released often here for a time,..symphonia,legendia, abyss symphonia 2, and vesperia , with the last two even coming pretty quickly. then suddenly nothing. its not like namco said “we wont be bringing any more tales of to the US sorry.” so for every new one theres hope. unlike a series where a company has stated diffrently.

*edit* i agree with the last part entirely. most of my posts *complaining* are more joke if anything. (though i DO want it but still) i dont see any point in complaining on, say a monster hunter thread lol

  • malek86

By the way, PS3 is fine, but why not try to make a proper Tales for PSP too?

They only did spin-offs and ports until now. Surely they could at least try. Apparently ToRM2 sold quite well, more than the main chapters on DS. I think there’s potential. And the PSP is extremely popular in Japan right now (also, since they don’t seem to want to localize any of these, the struggling sales of the console in the west wouldn’t matter).

    • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

I would love another 2D Tales. Narikiri Dungeon X on PSP was outstanding.

      • AdamBoy64

Do you mean have the battle scenes as 2D?

.. I’m confident about this one getting localised. I guess the next 5-6 months will tell.

    • Guest

The PSP games looks great though. Just a big mash up of all the games and characters. If I was a bigger fan of the series I would love that those games even exist since I dont think many other companies do that kind of thing.

    • goronyan

i would love to see an orignal tales for psp, even more if it had a steampunk theme

    • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/ashgail Ashgail

Man, if your idea becomes a reality, I’d be quite happy. PSP deserves some love for an original tales series.

    • Exkaiser

I’d be all for that. Innocence and Hearts on the DS were pretty good (Tempest, however…), so I’m sure they could do a mothership of equal quality on the PSP.

    • HarryHodd

A PSP Tales would never leave Japan. Why would you want that?

      • malek86

Are you implying that a Tales on another platform would leave Japan?

        Hehehe.

I was just speaking on a business pov, anyway. I’m not really interested in the series. Right now, a proper Tales for PSP might be a good idea.

  • shion16

  • urbanscholar

Wonder who the target audience will be with this one. I’m guessing with Graces it would be a good bet that it will be the same target group.

  • Guest

Can you all stop complaining!? It’s annoying to read comments in every Tales article now due to the SAME constant bitching and moaning. The likely hood of the games coming over is low we don’t need to be reminded by 90% of you crying about it. Sure I could ignore you guys but I like the Siliconera community and wanna read some intelligent comments in articles its almost impossible in any Tales article because “stupid bamco” or “localize this please!!!” Honestly, now you guys are just making fools of yourselves,

    • urbanscholar

      Well said

      • goronyan

        i second that

    • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

Kind of this. Whining about localizations (or the lack thereof) seems to almost always go hand in hand with any Tales discussion these days. Just import them, or play one of the many dozens of comparable RPGs that ARE in English, and call it a day.

      • karasuKumo

Exactly, to me it’s extra motivation to learn Japanese ;D

        • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

I already speak English, Cantonese, and struggle with speaking Mandarin. Not all of us are Graced with the time or ability to learn another language for entertainment purposes.

      • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

not everyone has 100 bucks to spend on a single game nor want to play a JRPG with no understanding of the text, which is a huge part of JPRG’s.

Edit: and the majority of JRPG’s on consoles this gen are horrible.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

Well like I said, there are dozens of RPGs that are already in English that are just as good as most of the Tales games. So….play those?

          • Draparde

While you are correct that there are many rpg’s in English out already, they don’t have the charm and most don’t have the game play of a tales of game. i’m not complaining that it wont come here. because whatever happens happens. (and disgaea 4/Trails in the sky will hold me lol)

        • Guest

Then play em on handhelds. DS and PSP gave a large amount of good RPGs. =P

          • http://www.facebook.com/jstack Jon Stachewicz

Might I suggest the 2 recent Ys games for PSP to quench your thirst for a good action RPG?

          • Ladius

I think Tales fans should really try the Falcom series. Ys’ fast paced action could appeal many for its (superficial) similiarity with Tales’own battle system, while Trails in the Sky could easily match the demand for good shounen plots and character interactions.

I’m actually hyping Trails in the Sky more than I would hype a Graces F announcement :P

          • Guest

Eh? I’m not asking for any lol I’ve got my fair amount.

          • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

No PSP or DS…..the PSP had freezing issues and the DS ceased to work.

*sigh* I need to re-buy them.

        • goronyan

“and the majority of JRPG’s on consoles this gen are horrible”
(゚Д゚)ハァ?Pardon me but you say most Jrpg’s (be it for Wii/360/Ps3) are horrible, yet i’m assured that you didn’t played most of them just because they were not localized amirite.
And even then i know that it’s not everyone who have conditions to maintain more than one system.
So please don’t go judging jrpg’s like that, i’m not denying your comment because there ARE horrible titles, but there are titles wich may look like trash yet they are totally different after you give a try

          • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

I’ve played and rented a lot of JRPG’s from all 3 consoles and none have quenched my thirst on gave me that satisfaction like handhelds or ps2/gameccube jrpg’s. I was referring to the one’s that are localized. I wouldn’t know about the one’s still in japan because I don’t plan on spending a ton of a money on one game, when I can get 4-10 other games for the same price so I try not to dwell on it.

      • WonderSteve

People complain because they still care about the series. Namco should be happy about it.

If I am Namco, I would be worried when we all are just silent about it. That would mean Tales has become “Tales of Irrelevant”

    • Neckbear

Congratulations, you just earned a “Like”. Took the words out of my mouth.

    • kariohki

I know it’s tough on the net to see, but my comment was sarcasm :P

    • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

There is a famous sentence said very long, long time ago, “if you dont like it mah dear, dont read/see/whatever it”. Pretty much what i do mostly on some tales of articles, every 3 or 2 articles i whine about the lack of localizing, and ignore the others… Btw there is always someone saying the same thing as you in most of the tales of articles :P so is pretty much the same at the end…

    • Ladius

I apologize if I’m gonna expanding on the answer I gave to another user in this news, but the topic is exactly the same.

True, it would be nice to use the news threads to discuss the possible changes in the art direction or gameplay Tales of Xillia could introduce, ToWRM3′s new mechanics and so on, but since we’re speaking about games everything ultimately boils down to the possibility or playing them, or lack thereof.

Like it or not, the past seven Tales games have been unplayable for westerners unproficient in japanese, barring those who ignore dialogues and use gameplay walkthroughs, severely limiting any first-hand input in Tales discussions.

You can’t expect everyone to have an accademic stance on discussions, to play the games in japanese or to stay silent simply because it’s unbecoming to whine – on the contrary, in a normal market the consumers’ pleas would have had an effect long ago. Sadly, Namco is all but normal in their localization policies.

      • Guest

Simple. Stop complaining. It’s frustrating and obviously we’re not over it but I bet a lot of people think this complaining and begging is actually gonna make a difference.

Just comment on the article, what you expect or hope to see in the game, etc. Not constant complaining.

        • Ladius

You could easily figure out that 99% of Siliconerans’ “hope for the game” is plainly and simply to be able to play it, and it’s absolutely legitimate for them to ask for it even if Namco apparently isn’t bothered in the slightest about the fans’rage.

People in the west haven’t had the possibility to play the last seven Tales games, being effectively cut off from the latest revisions in battle systems (both 2d, see Hearts and Narikiri X, and 3d, see Graces), knowing many characters that are becoming important for the franchise only through news and so on.

What reactions should a western fan have seeing a new Tales announcement? “Wow, Japan is going to be happy!” or “Interesting, I faintly remember playing a Tales of something when I was young” “Hey, let’s discuss some gameplay elements we will never try first-hand”?

I’m an importer and I have played Rebirth, Destiny R, Tempest and a part of Hearts using txt translation, and I know all too well how annoying that is. I also know a little bit of japanese, and that is sufficient to figure out that I should study it full time for almost three years before being able to really understand a Tales game all by myself, so the shut-up-and-import thing is baseless.

If you want to discuss other topics you are obviously free to do so, but this attitude is even more useless than the Tales fanbase’s already useless whinings, simply because those kind of news are a constant tease (not Siliconera’s fault, obviously) for all non-japanese fans. It’s not graceful, it doesn’t mean anything in the end, but it’s also unavoidable.

        • https://twitter.com/#!/SplashdownTiger STiger

I hope to see the game localized. ;3

        • http://twitter.com/gabriel_may_uk Gabriel May

Well there’s no point saying what you “expect or hope to see in the game” if it has very little chance of being released in the west, especially with a game that has the reputation like the Tales series.

Complaining can make a difference. heh it’s how Super Smash Bros for the N64 was released in the west :D But it is rare I admit.

But really – even though the complaning may be tiresome – these comments are also used for getting something of people’s chest. If bitching and being negative about not reciving about something makes them feel slightly better then why tell them to stop. If you don’t like it just roll your eyes and ignore it.

Heh you Americans (not necessairly saying your American, I just meant that in general) are lucky to recieve a few Tales games. Us Britis get shafted big time (recently I’ve imported Tales of Legendia). We did get Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360 at least.

Would be nice to have another current gen Tales game come to western shores :D

    • http://www.facebook.com/keishenra Kyle D. Johnson

Oh hey, that is funny you mention being annoyed out of your skull about clearly being forced to read comments that you find annoying, because I find viewpoints like yours, and the irresponsible and inconsiderate way you express them, ten times as annoying.

    • Hraesvelgr

Actually, I’d say the worst part of it is that people bring up the Tales series and Namco Bandai in articles that have nothing to do with either.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6T2SUPFIAJ6SQDJKKG4C5SJNYE D

Why? I don’t see anything wrong with people here complaining about how the tales games are not being localized to western shores. in fact, the only reason I read tales-related news is to read the amusing comments of the Namco bandai detractors. I also believe that theses comments are intelligent, albeit passionate at times. Tell you what, if you don’t want to see comments of that nature, DON’T READ THE COMMENTS SECTION.

    • kreate1

i hope more people bitch and moan about getting a tales game on the ps3 in america.

the more bitching and moaning all over the internet increaeses our chance of actually playing the tales game on the ps3 in america.

so people, please dont hesitate to bitch and moan all over the internet everytime u see a article regarding a tales game ^_^

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Kang/100001721764068 David Kang

i hope more people bitch and moan about localizing a tales game in america on the ps3.

doing so will increase the chances of actually making it happen.

people should be encouraged to both bitch and moan about localizing a tales game as well as actually buying the dam copy if or when it actually does come to north america/europe.

so people… keep complaining! bitch and moan all u want. hopefully one day, bamco will hear us out!

    • Kris

Ditto. Namco’s been promising that this one will have a great art style! (Still hoping Kousuke Fujishima’s on character designs. I love that guy!)

  • zhemos

Who cares, not like we’re gonna get It.

  • http://twitter.com/yarbook Nate Kobland

One of the problems here would be the title. If it is Tales of Xillia, any english speaker would pronounce this as “Zillia” which is really, really lame.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Maybe they should change it to Tales of Cecilia.

    • AdamBoy64

Interesting. I guess it depends on your background. I pronunce it
“Ex-ill-ee-ar”. I’ve thought it should have an ‘e’ on the front of it.

  • nyoron

It would be nice if Namco did it themselves but I’m kinda optimistic that all the major Tales games will be playable in English eventually.

Sometimes it might require some extra equipment, which can suck, but I guess it just depends on how badly you want it :)

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

I wonder if the overall mood of the game will become more mature to reflect the visual change… That would be interesting. But seeing as how Bandamco likes to play it safe, I guess I shouldn’t be expecting much.

    Still, I’m interested.

    • Ladius

I hope that the change in the art direction is not heralding a major reboot of the series regarding its gameplay and atmosphere. Tales has a distinct identity even if its core mechanics have been revised many times, and its fans love it exactly because of this alchemy.

      • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Thinking about it, if there’s one series that does not need a reboot (as in, it sells like hot cakes just the way it is), it’s the Tales series. Bandamco just wouldn’t dare doing something like that, I think.

But it also seems strange that they’re going with a more dark/gritty approach to the visuals while keeping the same kind of mood… I mean, of the Tales games I’ve played, I never felt like the mood was heavy or too serious.

I think it would make for a nice experiment. Just that: an experiment. Maybe the change is purely cosmetic.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Groce/100000039461956 Alexander Groce

To appeal to Westerns they may water the series down and turn it into another hack&slash.

  • zhemos

I wonder why Siliconera has never commented on Namco’s no tales stance against American fans.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

Because in general we don’t “comment” much. News at its best is disinterested.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Groce/100000039461956 Alexander Groce

I actually like that policy. It makes the reporters feel more professorial and less fanboysihy.

        • zhemos

          Very true.

      • zhemos

Well let me rephrase It. Why has there been no articles or open discussion on the subject? Would it be too much of a flame fest? Or do y’all just choose not to dabble in such debates.

        • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

Pretty much the same what most “reviewers” should really do. Most of gamespot reviewers fail at this though

        • http://honorless.net honorless

Nothing would get discussed. The entire comments section would be:
          1. Tales fans wailing, tearing out their hair, and burning effigies of Namdai
          2. Everyone who’s sick of the above telling them to shut up and deal with it

In the background, not bothering to wade into the line of fire:
          1. All the level-headed posters who might have intelligent things to contribute, but have learned to stay far away from Tales articles for reasons outlined above
          2. Fans of internet drama. We have an incredible capacity for schadenfreude, and would love to watch the level of discourse deteriorate to the level of all-caps comments and bannings. (Though for Tales articles, that wouldn’t be too much of a fall.)

…Crud, did I say ‘we’?! I meant they! THEY! :((

          • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

            Freudian slip.

            Also, good points.

          • RupanIII

lol well said. It seems like there’s been a lot of trollery (intentional or not) in the comments section in general lately, tho to be honest I haven’t noticed it too bad in the Tales sections (the fan wailing really doesn’t bug me much I guess haha). Ishaan mentioned it somewhere, every thread like ‘why isn’t everything HD, why do they make portable games’ or people being super duper seriously acting like they’re above it all but in the end coming off more annoying/superior than the fan-wailing. Anyway, thought it was just me.

            Also lol at ‘we’

        • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

I think honorless summed it up nicely. Thank you :)

The time to discuss is when we talk to Namco Bandai directly and I’m pretty sure we’re the only site that asked the CEO of Namco Bandai Games America about the Tales series. If anything we tried for Tales fans.

Also, and, this is totally a personal opinion, Tales of (whatever this is) has a radically different art style. There’s a reason for this change and perhaps its to make it more palatable for US retailers…

          • Dimentionalist

You should show them the angry responses on this site the next time you talk to them. =P

          • Exkaiser

I don’t think showing them post upon post of “I hate Namco-Bandai!” is going to improve their response, somehow.

          • M’iau M’iaut

Art style has always been my number one suspect in the ‘real reasons’ department but that two versions of Hearts were done and never showed, stateside perhaps lessens that evidence a tiny bit. However, the fact is that US market watchers and critics have long since tied the reasons for the 2001-03 anime/manga crash on the ‘cutesy’ look.

I wish to float another perhaps. That the nature of the series itself is different in other ways. Tales games are not just a ‘teenaged hero saves the world’ story. They are as much a shared journey by a group who are not all on the journey for the same reason. That’s far more an Asian story construct than a modern US one. The character types skew older, and again are archetypes not as recognized by American audiences. They have a reliance on past knowledge of Tales worlds (the question games or battle arenas) and you can control play greater (using someone other than the lead as your onscreen avatar and battle character).

All of these mean in a Tales game you aren’t ‘just’ Cloud, Squall. Ichigo or Naruto, which makes something a harder sell in a culture that glorifies a lone action hero.

    • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

DONT WORRY, IM SURE THERE WILL BE SOMETHING SOON, I CAN SMELL IT, NAMCO BANDaI KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING, THEY WILL SEE THAT TALES OF GAMES ARE THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THE NARUTO/DRAGONBALL/GODOFWARWANNABE HOLE

      • Draparde

maybe they’ve been localizing them all along and will release them all at once half off just in time for the holidays?

        • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

          Life would be too perfect

  • karasuKumo

Tales of Eternia PSP was amazing! 2D Tales games are better than the 3D ones in my opinion.

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

I wanted it to be named Tales of Xestia. Oh well I can not wait to see the images though. 2011 looks to be the year of possibilities so I will keep my hopes and aspirations up.

  • HarryHodd

I absolutely can’t wait to see this. I have a good feeling about it.

  • Tom_Phoenix

We, Namco Bandai, are proud to announce…Tales of Xillia for the 3DS!

    • Guest

Its already confirmed for PS3…though I think youre being sarcastic. =P

      • Tom_Phoenix

NOOOOOOOO! What could possibly make you think that? =P

    • Exkaiser

      Day one purchase.

  • WonderSteve

Maybe we need a siliconera that has a “Tales free option” :p

I always try to resist the urge to stab Namco when a Tales article show up. I really do, but it is hard.

To all those people who are annoyed by the complains, consider this: SEGA finally localized Yakuza 3 after enough fans demanding it. They saw a surge in sales compare to Yakuza 2. I am not saying fans’ complain is the sole reason that dictated SEGA’s decision, but I am sure it helps to push the issue forward to the management.

I honestly don’t know how else I can convince Namco about localizing Tales.

If you are annoyed by the complain, just don’t read those comments. No point to have your blood boil about it.

After all, the companies do read blogs to gauge opinions.

  • http://twitter.com/Xuiz enorka miho

From what I noticed, the Tales game that Namco do not localise are games that has Erm..high level of scenes that overexpose the young female character who looks like they are still in elementary school.

Besides, most of the Tales game that are out from Japan has a more mature feel to it. Also, I do not think that ToG will sell as good as ToV or the previous series because ToG really lack allot of stuff that most gamers outside of japan will probably not like it. And I am talking about RPG gamers who will not easily succumb to the fact that as long as the games are cute, or beautiful then they are fine with an OK plot. At least not for me.

But, If you are talking about ToV that is not localised in PS3.. Well, maybe they thought since they sold allot of copies for the Xbox perhaps most of the people already own it, and having it in PS3 again will be a waste of money because there are only a handful of gamers left that will buy the PS3 version? The profit may not be enough to cover the production cost.

However, I am very interested in this up coming tales game. It looks more mature than ToG and feel more sophisticated than the last few famous titles… So maybe Namco will have this out from japan. Platform wise, well, perhaps this time round, it will be out for the PS3 like the previous tittles. ToV and ToS were just some special cases though.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

If you looked at the latest interview, the reason why we don’t have ToV PS3 comes close to the reason we don’t have ToS PS2, because people have the original already……

I do admit though, that both PS3 Tales, considering their expansions, have been tailored to the Japanese market only. Why the hell would the US get a game that has Vocaloid in it when 80% of the population doesn’t know it? Or Idolmaster for that matter. There’s plenty of additions in ToV and ToG that mature market won’t go ga-ga for.

      • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

i though we would surely get it because we got Eternal Sonata for ps3 as well (it was first released for xbox)

  • Dimentionalist

We’ve got good reason to complain…

    *sigh*

If only we got this and Graces f…

  • superdry

You know…for some reason I feel like the West has an ever so slight of a chance seeing this game localized. All the major home consoles besides the PS3 all have had 1 Tales game released for it. This could be the one.

Interestingly enough…the US has had 7 of the 13 mothership titles released.

  • DemonicX

Seeing how most likely it will not be released in America, I don’t know if I should even get excited.

  • Exkaiser

I’m tenuously excited. I’m hoping the Tales series is really going to do something new this time, instead of taking a half step into new territory before easing back to what they’ve been doing forever.

If nothing else, I’m hoping the new art style will really be distinctive.

  • ForeverFidelis

I sure can’t wait to not play this game

  • Jirin

It’s totally reasonable for a gaming fan to be frustrated that their favorite genre of game isn’t getting it’s best releases made available to them. Especially when other companies are practically begging them for the rights to bring them over.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/SplashdownTiger STiger

I will be disappointed if this game’s Mystic Artes/Hi-ougis do not outshine Graces F’s, especially since they have the full power of the PS3 at their disposal by building this game from the ground up.

  • Vino (Tim N)

I look forward to the announcement. ^^

  • PrinceHeir

    Tales of Never :D

still i look forward in seeing how this new one turns out. eh i already namco probably won’t port this. but that’s the way it is.

  • nyrjin

When the choices are: Complaining or people complaining about complaints, I would stick to one level of whining.

Or you could just all get angry at me because you think I’m at the third level. Whatever floats your boat.

  • holyPaladin

Time to import this when released :)

I can do this on PS2 Tales games, should do it again…

  • Draparde

i can’t wait to see the new characters, weapons and mystic artes…and battle system… and opening :O and….!

  • epy

Hmm… these Tales things always have a ton of comments.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

lol because us fans are faithful and hate to be ignored or disappointed. ._.

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Yet we boycott Bamco’s other games and make our faith even worse….without realizing it.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

That’s why boycotting is a double-edged sword.. it’ll either help or hurt us.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Surely you’ve seen this posted before, right?

            http://artonelico.isisview.org/viewtopic.php?p=376360#p376360

I’m sure you don’t believe this, but the fact that Bamco isn’t getting enough money from other games actually makes sense. Fans boycotting/begging for one game just can’t cut it, and that’s coming from those who don’t take real economics to account. So that double-edge sword did indeed hurt us.

Also, ever noticed that some Bamco games were released at insignificant times?

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

Haha, actually, no I haven’t seen that before. After all the times I’ve lost internet from all the places I’ve moved to and from, I’ve lost touch with interacting a lot with message boards.. can’t find one that I actually fit in with at the moment.

But I understand what that PR meant about their situation. I always have an optimistic mind-set when it comes to video games and if those games are/aren’t released in English. But even if titles are never released, I still won’t hold a grudge against their company. It’s just how it works and we just have to deal with it in the end. If they ever decide to release the titles in English, I’ll buy them~ Even if there’s issues with the game, like the dubbing or translations errors. XD *is a fangirl that supports dual audio, since she lost touch with dubbing for over 5 years now*

As for their other games, no, not really. XD After losing my job back in February, I haven’t really been paying much attention to gaming news lately. …well, other than this site (I visit daily and multiple times a day to read the comments and respond every now and then). If it’s not interesting in my eyes, I usually skip the news. lol I’m strictly a RPG and a Dynasty/Samurai Warriors/Sengoku Basara fan. So I normally just look for those.. plus a few fighting games for the boyfriend. XD

  • Finalstar2007

    So localization?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

lol, even tho I read/skimmed through most of the comments here.. I will say: can’t wait to hear the news! XD We get new Studio Ghibli movie announcement on the 15th and the next Tales title announcement next week! Yay~ <3 Can't wait!

  • SupaPhly

hmm, if it’s going to change the artstyle. it better not look like those generic characters we’ve been seeing lately on some current gen jrpgs

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Khairuddin-Haji-Mohamed/1488099947 Khairuddin Haji Mohamed

I may actually be fortunate for NOT being a fan of the Tales series wahahaha~ I don’t hate them; just not a fan…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Antonio-Garcia/100001052955555 Antonio Garcia

    Bamco Troll us…

  • Extra_Life

I really want a new, big JRPG right now, so while I’m waiting for more news on the next Tales game, I think I probably going to import Graces F to sate that desire. Hopefully, I’ll improve my basic Japanese along the way, and maybe, just maybe, once I buy it from Japan, it will then get localized and I’ll have to buy it again. At least that is how it went with Symphonia.

  • http://www.facebook.com/icedearthaholic Justin Melanson

@LOVEoo, I think these people have EVERY right to complain considering how BN has been treating their fans like trash. You being a jerk to them isn’t gonna make that problem go away, now is it? You’re further fueling the fire with that attitude of yours.

Articles like this one shown here http://artonelico.isisview.org/viewtopic.php?p=376360#p376360 are a prime example of why it is that I am actually trying to organize a professional boycott of BN games, I am indeed well aware that there are alot of disonant voices, and a “one man army” thing is not gonna cut it. That’s why I am working on a place where we can all come together as one voice and tell them this “Westernization” movement within the company is NOT working. Give them the bird, and tell them to shove their Enslaved, Naruto, Tekken, etc. games up their collective butts! And let them know we WON’T be buying ANY of their games until they give us what WE want!

For all those who are complaining, I’ll let you all know whenever I am able to get a website live, and a Facebook group started.

    • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Why would they shove Naruto…based on that previous article it seemed to, thus far, be their most selling title this year (700K). CyberConnect2 are great company with true dedication for Naruto series and thus their efforts should be rewarded. Tekken hasnt come out since 2008 anyway and I thought had a loyal following?

I think you are going for the wrong idea; I liked the idea proposed earlier with people just organizing to send postcards of commitment to their American branch that they would surely get the next Tales game.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Go ahead and ask for a miracle, but if you DID read the article, you already know that boycotting even MORE isn’t gonna cut it. Even if the Tales fans, myself included, want to voice their wants for a Tales game, they should be accept the situation and do something more “practical.” Use that little facebook group or whatever and just voice your wants. keep going until Bamco “kinda” answers, but don’t boycott.

I don’t see any boycotts from buying Capcom games just because fans want MML3 or a new Breath of Fire game.
