Zealots From Resident Evil 4 Return In Mercenaries 3D

By Ishaan . December 9, 2010 . 10:25am

Last night saw a fresh batch of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations screens, along with some new information on the former. Today, we have more screenshots, courtesy of Capcom’s Japan division.

Here’s The Mercenaries 3D once again, this time showing off some of the weapons and enemies. Look, it’s the zealots from Resident Evil 4!

The Mercenaries 3D website had one more piece of information that you might find interesting. The number of players the game will support has yet to be decided (or specified). While we knew The Mercenaries 3D will include online co-op, there’s a possibility that this may extend beyond two players.

Resident Evil: Revelations, too, saw a Japanese update. The four new screenshots appear to be from the same area (maybe even the same playthrough) as yesterday’s screens.

Revelations takes place in 2005, somewhere in offshore Europe. The backstory involves Jill and other members of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance boarding a luxury liner that now looks like a ghost ship. As they approach, Jill murmurs to herself, “I’m sure they’re somewhere on this ship…”

Who or what she’s looking for isn’t specified, however. Clearly, something’s wrong here, though, as past screens and a trailer have depicted Jill and Chris not quite getting along.

The graphics from Mercenaries/Revelations are looking to be pretty much RE4-level. Not bad for a portable, but the first screens seemed a bit better.

I wonder what kind of graphical level can be reached on the 3DS, and if it will have an effect on the battery drain…

    • ECM

The harder you push any portable, the faster the batteries will be drained (or, in the case of home consoles/PCs. the more current they’ll pull).

That said, it’s very likely that the 3DS, like most portable devices, has a governor on the CPU/GPU preventing them from being run at full speed for precisely this reason, so there will be an absolute ceiling on how rapidly the device can be drained.

    • I Think it’s better than RE4 in some parts .. at least better than the PS2 version

  • Please no Finger-whining.

  • Lets see, looking at the Resident Evil Mercs…I see fingers (and they are blocky) in all 8 pictures. People said the game wouldnt apparently have focus on the fingers, well I think in this case the fingers are noticeable in all of them. I hope they they decide to go back and increase the attention to detail before the game is released because that is just plain unacceptable.

The other resident evil continues to look and sound better than ever, at least her fingers have some semblance of curvature. I like

    • stop that shitty thing about the fingers already
      who cares…

I dun see any zealots O_o hope they have templars as backup too.. GG man.

At first I wasn’t planning on getting Mercenaries 3D, but now all this awesome information and amazing screens are encouraging me to purchase it.

  • Finally i´ll be able to play as Hunk again :´)

    • I missread that as ‘Hulk’ and it still made sense.

Very excited for both these games. The level of support the 3DS is getting before it even releases is suprisingly impressive. Ada had better be playable in Mercenaries 3ds though. :P

    • Level of Support? Where? Weve known of this game(2) since the day of reveal? I do not follow.
