S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team To Assault Virtual Console

No, don’t even think about making that joke.

In all seriousness, though, Special Cybernetic Attack Team was a side-scrolling sci-fi shooter for the NES, developed by Natsume in 1990. An army of aliens invade the ruins of New York, and it’s up to the S.C.A.T. team to hold them off.

The neat catch is that you can play S.C.A.T. in co-op with two players, using the two lead characters, Arnold and Sigourney (yes, they’re based on actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sigourney Weaver).

S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team showed up on the Australian ratings board, which means a Virtual Console release is imminent.

omo; hey why do you get colorful language and whenever I say sh!t it gets eaten by the moderator, and my whole post is gone T_T’ I have a whole rainbow slurry of words that siliconera is missing out on +o+

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Rainbow slushie? Sounds tasty. The Mod eating your sh!t does not though. ^,^’

        • Code

haha, that’s true, probably better siliconera isn’t gifted with my more colorful language opo; Although agreed I could go for a rainbow slushie now too, but only if it’s made of actual rainbows >O>’

      Yeah, it’s pretty shi‌tty.

        So… there’s co-operative too.

Now, if there were a national competition out there for this game, could you imagine two girls co-oping for that one cup?

      • kylehyde

        Epic win for that.

    • Testsubject909

Quite… When I heard Scat, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.

  • eliel

the sound effects make me wana play contra( i wonder wats up wit contra Hard Corps: Uprising)

  • Feynman

Despite it’s unintentionally hilarious name, it’s one of my favorite NES shmups. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’ve never played it before!

  • I thought this referred to the Sega Control Attack Team.

      Mr and Ms. Victor Martin.

      And their children.

      And Sarah.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Is it just me or are auto-scroll shooters that let you switch facing backwards while still moving forward like this something of a rarity?

    • Code

Yeah definitely I’ve only played a handful, I can probably count them all on two hands. I kind of had to laugh though when watching the footage, it was like they simply didn’t wanna program gravity into the game so they just made the character fly, it appears like they actually do have a feasible level design going on but I guess gravity was the step after level design opo;; That’s NES games for you though, when in doubt, NOW YOU CAN FLY >w<'

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Win-win situation! Gamers have more fun, programmers have more fun!

        • Code

haha totally, gravity is so overrated >w<~!

Damn you Siliconera, denying me the ability to make a crap joke or a pun that stinks -_-
