In Case You Didn’t Know Atelier Violet On PSP Has New Events & Endings

By Spencer . December 17, 2010 . 1:10am

That’s what this trailer for Atelier Violet: The Alchemist of Gramnad 2 mentions as it briefly introduces three new characters in the PSP version.

They are (in order of appearance) Sphere, Nanami, and Lapis. Sphere appeared in the PSP port of Atelier Judie. Lapis, a reserved girl is a bit afraid of her. Nanami is a cheerful girl with a sharp tounge who came from Karotte village to set up shop.

You’ll get to see how all the three newcomers interact with Violet on February 3 when Atelier Violet: The Alchemist of Gramnad 2 makes its debut on PSP.

I have yet to play any Atelier games that haven’t been localized by NISA but I continue to be charmed by the music in the series and it makes me want to start importing them.

    • Gestahl

GUST sound team is extremely talented.

      • And Violet represents some of their best work. Trust me.

        • In your opinion, wich is the best atelier NIS has ever made?

          • NIS doesn’t make them. Gust does.

That said, from among the “classic” Atelier games which we never got (that is, the pre-Iris1 games), I always felt Atelier Elie was the best, with Violet being a close second. Helmina & Culus was also a neat concept, although it’s really an expansion pack to Atelier Lilie rather than a full game.

Of course, Atelier Lina is new, and is probably one of the best titles they’ve ever made, too. There’s a *lot* of good Gust stuff to bring over right now.

      • SolidusSnake

So true. The Ar Tonelico soundtracks are so beautiful it boggles my mind sometimes.

  • Ladius

    NiSA, Carpe Fulgur, anyone, please localize this andor Atelier Lina ;__;

    • God, I’d want to, but console development (at least in anything like a timely fashion) is still difficult for us. I really might have to choke someone if Lina doesn’t hop the ocean, though.

      • Ladius

NiSA seems to have abandoned Ds and Psp Atelier localizations, and since no other USA publisher seems to be interested in Gust games you are probably our last hope.

        • I wouldn’t count the chickens on NISA “abandoning” portable stuff just yet. We’ll see, though. Even if we “want” to do it, CF getting into the console space is no trivial feat.

  • God but I do want this game to jump the ocean, it’s well past time it got a shot. I do hope certain individuals are paying attention!

That said, “Nanami” does leave me scratching my head. The Salburg setting was always very good about fitting Western names (since it’s basically Fake-Germany), so what’s the deal with this girl with a blatantly Japanese name?

  • Xeahnort

Atelier Violet is the best entry in the series, I hope NISA consider localizing this and it prequel Atelier Judie (remastered and released in Japan months ago)

  • Yes, this is exactly the Atelier game I want: heavy on alchemy, a cute but not overdesigned protagonist, a green fairy character voiced by Kanda Rie (I still listen to Popo’s lessons just because she is so great), 2D sprites and backgrounds, and Gust quality soundrack.
Even the shoehorned lolis won’t be able to ruin this PSP port.

NISA, please don’t Viorate our feelings and release this!

    • hadjimurad

totally agree about the cute but simple protagonist. i really her look, and she seems to always be smiling.

    • That pun is wretchedly, awesomely bad.

      • I have no idea what went through my mind when I typed it. I’m equally ashamed and proud of it though.

  • Maan i love the music, i have to buy atelier rorona soon T_T

  • PrinceHeir

    fucking nice :D

though i haven’t bought the new one yet, im still collecting the PS2 games.

  • BadenBadenPrinny

Is this like Atelier Rorona? (i.e. light on story heavy on crafting?). My memory fails me :(

    • Yes, it’s one of the “classic” Atelier games which Rorona took its design cues from.

  • I’m always up for more A-RPG (Alchemist Role Playing Games)…But first I want my localization of Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al Revis. It’s been far too long -_-

    • Mana Khemia was fully translated and released in the U.S. and European markets several years ago.

      • Oops. I meant Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al Revis 2. I know the first one has because I played it and enjoyed the hell out of it :D
