Combat of Giants: Dinosaur 3Ds Uncanny Metamorphosis

The Battle of Giants (or Combat of Giants as it is known outside America) series is a dinosaur fighting game with exploration elements. At E3 2010, Ubisoft announced a bunch of Nintendo 3DS games, and among them was a 3DS port of Battle of Giants: Dinosaur Strike, originally developed for Wii.

In the following months, however, Ubisoft announced another original Battle of Giants game, titled Combat of Giants: Dinosaur 3D, which appears to be an original 3DS game. So, whatever happened to Dinosaur Strike?

Perhaps these screens can shed some light on the subject. The screenshot to the left is from the originally announced Dinosaur Strike. The one on the right is from the newly announced Dinosaur 3D. Notice the similarities, aside from the complete texture swap and the T-rex to the left?

It looks like what was originally Dinosaur Strike got a bit of a facelift. Or perhaps Ubisoft just re-used certain assets to create a new game with. We’re not sure. Amusingly, it also looks a lot grittier and browner now. Go figure. You can find older screens of Dinosaur Strike on the 3DS here.

Can’t wait to see what tier lists for a dinosaur fighting game look like. I hear Pterodactyl really needs to be nerfed in time for tournament play

RAWR I love Dinosaurs DUDE! Dinosaurs are just so epic! This looks phenomenally epic to play on the 3DS!

But you can’t even see each individual Scale! It would totally take me out of the experience.

But it will be impossible to be taken out of the experience with sharp teeth, claws, and spikes popping out of the screen thanks to the powerful hardware enabling us to experience the game in a new dimension! Its gonna be epic dude!!!!!

But it will also be impossible to be taken out of the experience with guns and zombies running towards you popping out of the screen thanks to the powerful hardware enabling us to experience the game in a new dimension.

This is one of those games that I really hope will be good because the idea is so awesome, but I have a feeling will be absolutely horrible.

    Here’s to hoping I’m wrong.

Unfortunately is ubisoft, and generally the formula goes more or less like this:
Ubisoft + their lack of effort + nintendo console = shovelware.

For Ubisoft its usually “The sequels are always better”

        Case in point:

        Assasins Creed 1, very repetitive
Assassins Creed 2: they made it flow so well during the story.

Assassins Creed 1 DS: lol this game, thats all there is really, LOL
Assassins Creed 2 Discovery for the DS: a side scroller and is so much better and more fluid.

How bout a Godzilla game? (Not that horrible one that came out for DS)

Am I the only one who likes the old UI better? The new one looks so generic.

They were also way too excessive with dark colours in the new one. I actually like the colourful, vibrant environment in the old picture. Hopefully, there will be enough variety in the game itself.

This reminds me of that Jurassic Park Warpath fighting game on he PS1:
