Nintendo Promoting The Last Story Promotion

By Ishaan . December 26, 2010 . 6:02pm

The Last Story isn’t due out for another month. However, there is a presentation taking place in a few hours from now in Japan, where Sakaguchi will be talking about the game, and Nintendo want people to know it. They’re promoting the presentation through TV commercials to spread the word.

Between a TV promotion for a presentation for the game, a Wii bundle, and a relatively lengthy Iwata Asks, The Last Story is getting quite the marketing treatment from its publisher.

  • Thats a commercial? It was just like images. Oh well it looks good.

    • That was a commercial to promote the presentation event for the game, not the game itself. It’s kind of pointless to show the game in action before the official unveiling of the final product.

    • Testsubject909

      It’s a commercial to a bigger commercial.

It’s supposed to get you prepped up for the commercial that’ll get you prepped up for the game.

You can watch the presentation live via in 18minutes.

Thanks, watching now, very cool! I’ve never watched something like this live. surprised it’s a nunchuck and remote setup :)

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Thanks! I just clicked on it and the first thing I see is the main character in his undies! *suppresses urge to close tab and presses on*

EDIT: Dangit he stopped playing already. And now I have no idea what’s going on.

The Gooch went over tons of stuffs and later battle royale (man, no voice chat is a pity you could see how fun everyone was screaming and yelling), and then Iwata crashed the party and they closed w/ the song. I was worried I would be spoiled too much because the man just refused to stop :).. heart still pumping, NEED soundtrack! Man, it’s real late now like 2am, and lots of snow… got to hit the hay, diggin the car out tmw would be a pain *.*…

Yea many of us here at Siliconera could all use more sleep sometimes, I imagine… XD

My feelings about this are flipping out in conflict:
It looks amazing! …But is it coming over here?
Maybe it will come over here! …But should I invest in a Wii?
The Seiyuu are great! …But will they make it into the American version?
The Gooch’s stach has taken over his face! …But is it a real stach?

…And so on and so forth.
            (one of these are irrelevant)

          • Aoshi00

K, here’s my take :)Hm.. I think a localization “should” happen, just a matter of time.Hell yea you should get a Wii for this! Need to support the Gooch, this can’t be his last game!I would expect the seiyuu not to be in the US ver first (since there seems to be a lot of dialogue thruout the whole game even during the fights, a dub wouldn’t be so bad), but if they do dual track like Sin & Punishment 2 or Fragile, then all the better, don’t think they would for an RPG though.I was surprised by the goatee too, he is turning into Master Eraqus :) But the expression on his face was priceless when Iwata gave a surprise visit “What the hell!?” and started to interrogate everyone after that fun multiplayer session..

  • Hraesvelgr

That’s cool. How about they announce it for an English release already and give it similar marketing?

    • krokounleashed

Mistwalker replied to me there will be more infos next.

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

So where is the said info? Please?

  • Aoshi00

That’s nice. I remember I got really excited when he was doing the presentation for Lost Odyssey (and then he died fighting the first boss demoing the game lol.. can’t blame him, I died the first time too). And later he did a 2nd one w/ Uematsu, the novelist of 1000 yrs of Dreams, and the actors on stage too.. It’s always nice to see creators demoing and showcasing their games like Kojima w/ MGS4.I’m not crazy about those Nintendo spots w/ celebs like Matsumoto Jun playing games though, so phony…P.S. they updated the seiyuu list and voice samples on the official site, pretty nice cast. Elza is by Miyano Mamoru (Yagami Light, he’s okay…), Toyoguchi Megumi is Siren (sexy!) and Noto Mamiko (Jigoku Shoujo) is Manamia the softspoken healer, Ishizuka Unsho (Dojima in Persona 4, new Mr. Satan in DB Kai) is the big bro Quark, very nice :) Sakaguchi should’ve gone w/ seiyuu for Lost Odyssey…

You just reminded me of that… Sometimes when I see certain celebs (Japanese, American, Korean, anything) playing games or promoting them, I roll my eyes.
But then I found out my fav girl in SNSD loves Sgt Frog, so now I’m going to be looking intensely at celebs and how they promote things, wondering if it’s something they’re actually a fan of (and lucky that they get to promote) or if they’re just being phonier than bologna.

      • Aoshi00

wow, I just finished watching the presentation, it was so amazing and comprehensive! Everyone’s so humble and they really went all out (the attention to details, the level of interactivity and customization, Elza running around naked lol). Sakaguchi was really taken by surprise when the head honcho decides to drop in (you could feel them being nervous, sneaky Iwata..)

lol, yea I can’t stand seeing celebs playing games most of the time (American or Jpn on the Nintendo Channel), I guess some of them have played games when they were kids, but definitely just doing it for the commercials. Of course hot chick is a different story :) hotness is hotness. I just heard a couple of songs from Wonder girls before, I only knew of SNSD.

They said the game has a slip cover and another cover underneath. I can’t wait for the game, goosebumps. Go Sakaguchi! (Good thing I didn’t go to sleep at 12am).

        • puchinri

I started it last night, but I’m going to finish it now. You’ve made me excited to watch the rest (and to see naked Elza!). Hehe, I swear Iwata has this habit of sneaking up on people or sneaking something in during talks that catches them off-guard.

Some celebs here made me ecstatic when they promoted stuff (Seth Green, since I love Robot Chicken and he and/or his wife game quite a bit, or was it a lot?), but it happens less for Japan. I think only two instances come to mind where the celeb made me go ‘omg, I love that too! Go team so-and-so!’. Haha, but yeah, I have to throw hot guys in there too (but Jun Matsumoto isn’t hot to me so that’s a letdown, but I can see him being a gamer). Would it be bad of me to boo the Wonder Girls on here? Just to show me SNSD love, even if I like one of the Wonder Girls…

Wow, fancy. I just keep getting more and more excited over this~. Go Sakaguchi, go! (Is it wrong that I feel ready and in need for him to get started on another game already?)

          • Aoshi00

yea, that was Sakaguchi’s fanservice for the ladies, in that scene it was particularly funny because Seiren was teasing Elza, he dolled up Seiren w/ the dress too :)

Man, Iwata was something, they looked like they were scared of him, it’s like he spoiled the fun. Sakaguchi was like “you should’ve said something if you were coming” (he didn’t look particularly thrilled to me). Iwata was like “I was watching you guys on ustream on my way here”.

I think Seth Green is cool because he does voices in Family guy, and also he plays Joker the pilot in Mass Effect, so he’s more genuine to me. Matsumoto Jun I think they’re making him look cute and boyish, didn’t like him as Doumyouji in Hana Yori Dango.. or that guy from “Letter from Iwojima”, I saw him in other dramas before and he was in a few Nintendo spots too, like playing Mario Galaxy and dying and laughing like idiots.. they’d be like “No way!! Awesome!! Are you kidding!?”, so exaggerated.. I dunno maybe girls like them.

lol I don’t know I’m not too familiar w/ the girl groups actually, I just came upon “Nobody but you”, the dance was pretty cool. I just started listening to some SKE48 songs and thought they were pretty cute and catchy.. But Beyonce and Nicole Kidman, yea right like they play games..

          • puchinri

Aww, Sakaguchi is awesome. I have even more love for him now (I’m glad someone is thinking of giving us fanservice, hehe!). Hah, man, now I’m mad that I still haven’t finished it.

Hahaha! I think Iwata does that on purpose often. I can’t remember what it was, but someone was saying how they surprised him. Sakaguchi probably had the life scared out of him. Hee hee… If Iwata said that to me and came out of no where though, I would be freaked out.

Hah! I did not know that. He is pretty darn genuine though. For some reason, his role in Buffy always made me feel like he was genuine… I don’t bother with his acting (I don’t really watch Jdrama though in general), and I don’t really care for him, but I did like him in some of those variety shows. I think he can be genuine, but he’s definitely a ‘pretty people sells’ kind of person.

Hah! Right? And as much as I like Nicole Kidman (and dislike Beyonce), I just couldn’t buy that. Well, I guess I could see Nicole Kidman playing games with her kids, but I don’t see her playing games outside of that.

          • Seth Green does game a lot, but his wife games even more. Either that or she just has more skill than him. Supposedly, she doesn’t just beat him in competitive games but she crushes him.

          • puchinri

Ahh, okay. That’s even better than what I remembered. >u<
(His wife is a bad ass, hehe.)

  • HarryHodd

Hoping this conference will give me something to get excited about.

  • PrinceHeir

    good work sakaguchi-san :D
