Tomb Raider Trilogy Swinging To PlayStation 3 On March 22nd

By Ishaan . January 6, 2011 . 10:24am

In December, we learnt that Crystal Dynamics were preparing high-definition conversions of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary and packaging them along with the more recent Tomb Raider: Underworld for the PlayStation 3.

Titled Tomb Raider Trilogy, this package is being released on March 22nd for $39.99. Crystal Dynamics are also throwing in a few bonuses, such as a PlayStation 3 theme pack, a PlayStation Home female avatar outfit based on Lara, and a male outfit based on the Viking Thrall.

I still don’t understand what they mean by “remastered in high definition”. Legends and Anniversary were already on 360.

Unless they upped the resolution to 1080p or something.

Well, the headline did say “PlayStation 3”

I´m not too sure, but Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary on X360 are not HD, if im right they´re just “enhanced” PS2 ports.

  • So Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection AND Tomb Raider Trilogy for March, wow March is looking to be awesome for the powerful and impressive PS3. For less than the cost of two new PS3 games, Im getting 5 games that I’ve never experienced before. This will greatly enhance the repertoire of videogames franchises that I have played this generation. It’s also gonna be a great month for anime blu ray releases too (Soul Eater, FMA Brotherhood P4, and Eva 2.22). Imma need more money!

I wish the theme coming with Tomb Raider were dynamic though. I wouldnt mind seeing Lara when I boot up the the system.

March is going to be a really rough month. I don’t care for Tomb Raider, but Ico/Shadow, Ar Tonelico is in March too I believe, Yakuza 4, God Eater Burst, 3rd Birthday, Dissidia.. too many games!

      • March games, coupled with the release of the 3DS, will be a tough and expensive month for alot of people. I didnt know Ar Tonelico Qoga, The 3rd Birthday & Dissidia[Duodecim] were for the same month too, oh and Phantom Brave PSP too I think, gah! so much!

        • Barrit

I keep a list of dates and I have Ar Tonelico Qoga down as “around 3/17”, I believe the UK gets it around this date and heard the US will probably get it around the same time too. 3rd Birthday and Dissidia are on the same day according to retailers, 3/31.

EDIT: the post for Ar Tonelico: I guess the ‘around same time’ was actually for Neptunia, but I don’t really see it being too far off for Ar Tonelico either. Guess we’ll see.

Like last year, March comes with an insane amount of new titles.

    • There’s only three titles for me to pick up in March. Ico/Shadow the Colossus, Ar Tonelico, and Yakuza 4.

For those who want to see the theme it’s on the PlayStation blog:
I’m excited, though the cover looks off to me.

Well this is cool providing that Legends and Anni. are up to (or better) the the quick ports 360 got some time ago. Still Underworld was bad on PS3, really not up to par graphically or technically. I remember some freezing glitches, characters getting stuck in walls and the funniest one was on one level (the one where you swim to the island and fight the Tigers) there was a rock texture that stretched up out of the water clear across the screen, I dies several times thinking it was a zip line, lol.

well considering I’ve never played any of those games, $40 for the collection is a good price for me to consider picking it up after I get the other games in that month

  • cmurph666

I stopped playing after the 5th one on PSX.

Kinda tempted to pick this up… but not until the price comes down to around $20.

why is it that the Prince of Persia Trilogy is not physical but only digital?

can’t say im excited for this but i’ll try this soon enough, haven’t played this yet ^^

    • Well thats all Ubisoft and that must be an odd decision as even the Splinter Cell Trilogy is coming physically.

    • Physical discs are available in Europe and Asia, just not in the US…

  • Funny seeing it’s not a “Trilogy” they’re just 3 random Tomb Raider games dood.

This year is going to break my bank account indeed! I have so many things I still need to get, including LittleBig Planet. I want Killzone 3 and Playstation Move Heroes. I want the sharp shooter gun for the move too to make killzone 3 come together, going to be locked indoors this summer!
