Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights Investigates Europe In Summer 2011

Dr. Lautrec, the protagonist of Konami’s Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, might dress like Professor Layton, but he doesn’t act like him. While Layton tends to be quite the gentleman, Lautrec doesn’t trouble himself with concerns of right and wrong.

Konami Europe describe the 19th century doctor as a “combative figure,” unpopular at the university he teaches, his unorthodox attitude reflected in his immoral approach to solving puzzles. His young assistant, Sophie, is what helps keep the good (bad?) doctor in check.

Forgotten Knights will have 3D solutions to puzzles, Konami mention. You’ll be able to scrutinize objects from different angles, as well as zoom in and out of scenery to compare it to your map. Cutscenes in the game will be displayed in 3D as well.

Like Layton, Dr. Lautrec, too, has rivals in the form of other professors who will try to hinder his quest. One of them is revealed to be the member of a notorious crime gang.

Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights takes place in a 19th century Paris. Europeans will be able to get their hands on the Nintendo 3DS game in Summer 2011.

    Good show!

  • Badass mustache professor solving 3D puzzles with his mighty monkey and a sweet little girl, that’s the combination of epicness!

  • Lautrec’s shoulder-mounted Monkey resembles Data! :D

  • Yui

Looking forward to Lautrec. The guy has ‘Tude, and everyone knows ‘Tude is what our generation wants. ;P

Seriously, though, I love him already. Grumpy old men are the best protagonists. =D

  • Do we know the director and producer for this one?
My interest in Konami’s other Layton ripoff, Zack & Ombra, went up after I learned that Shingo Mukaitoge was involved, that’s why I am asking.

And so the rivalry between the Sherlock Holmes-wannabe (Professor Layton) and the C. Auguste Dupin-wannabe (Doctor Lautrec) begins…Personally, I am looking forward to it. =D

I think there should eventually be a crossover game that includes both of them! WHO’S WITH ME?!

      *raises her glass*

      That would be neat. :)

  • “Solving puzzles with the mind? HA! Why bother when I can kick it’s ass into completion”

Yes, that’s right ladies and gentlemen. The man with the Ph.D in badassary will be solving puzzles, kicking ass and chewing gum all this summer! Don’t bother locking up your daughters because he’ll just figure out a way in!

2011 – the year of the moustache.

I hope we get a North American release since the 3DS is region locked. I’m rather excited about this game. :3
