Sorry, There Won’t Be An English Gods Eater Burst Demo

By Spencer . January 20, 2011 . 3:42pm

While I was playing Gods Eater Burst with a staff member from D3 Publisher, I asked if there was going to be an English demo. Unfortunately, the answer is no.

If you know Japanese or are a little bold you can try out Gods Eater Burst by grabbing a demo from the Japan’s PlayStation Store.

I also asked if crossover content from the anime series A Certain Magical Index would be in the US version. Licensing issues prevented D3 Publisher from keeping that content in Gods Eater Burst. Items related to video game publications like Famitsu will be in the English version with some minor modifications.

Gods Eater Burst is slated for release in March. We’ll have some multiplayer impressions based on the English version soon.

  • Oh well, im gonna get it regardless, too bad Misaka’s clothes wont be in the game though :(

    • Hraesvelgr

      Well, honestly, anime crossover content should pretty much never be expected to make it across. There are too many issues with trying to include it and the biggest one is extra money, which is probably a good bit, since it’s related to anime licensing.

      • Yeah, ive always wondered about those things, couldn’t they just call it “Girl’s school uniform”, and put it on the game xD, is not like her clothes are thaaaat different, they are pretty basic. But yeah, all this stuff is always more complicated than what it looks.

      • All the anime stuff made it into the US release of ZHP, and I think that included an Index character, which makes me wonder if they just didn’t want to pay the money.

        • Exkaiser

          Well, that would make the most sense. It’s not like they gain much (in the way of buyers) from having the costume in the English release or lose much from taking it out. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think Index is a big thing in the West.

  • All instances of Famitsu will be changed to GameInformer.

  • SlashZaku

    Sucks to hear as I was looking forward to an English demo (have the JP demo but would like to know more about the stuff going on).

    Looks like its time to dust off the Japanese PSN account again.

      Do you have Malicious on Japanese PSN…

      • goronyan

        Just to remind you guys that Malicious will have an update patch slated for 25th of this month wich includes :
        .Easy mode (before, the level of difficulty was cumulative. Wich means each boss that you defeat, the next one becomes more stronger, that’s why most players recommend defeat 狂王 (Possessed Queen?) first since she becomes a real threat at the end for those aiming the Ranking S and No repair trophies.);

        button assign (before, there were only 2 types of controls to choose);

        better camera adjustments (the lock-on function will now have a better response, especially within the distance between you and the boss);

        and you can read a novel from the game in the “extras” section

        well that’s it.

  • KotaroInugami

    *sniff* It was bad enough that I won’t have a demo to tie me over, but no Misaka Imouto either? *sniff*

    Crappy title change. No demo. Good job getting this game out there, guys.

    • rock1644

      I am convinced at this point that Namco is like those overly confident and arrogant contestants on American Idol tryouts. They think they are great, yet they are actually horrible and refuse to seek advice from anyone. They have been doing crap like this for years and years. They didn’t get it before, and it looks like they never will.

  • badmoogle

    I think the Japanese demo was good enough to know whether i want to buy it or not…

  • JustaGenericUser

    – No english demo
    – Shitty and pointless title change
    – Taking out content despite the fact Zettai Hero Project has a shitton of anime content from a smaller developer

    Doing all kinds of wrong here.

    • Don’t forget GameStop exclusive DLC, which was free for everyone in Japan according to another Siliconera article, and pricing the game at 40 bucks isn’t exactly doing them any favors.

    • PrinceHeir

      what’s up with these exclusive store in game deals. it’s really irritating me that im missing a content just because some stupid retailer made a deal about it. arghh i’ll probably wait for a price drop. and “Gods Eater” really? with the “s”? wow just wow

  • Aw… but I’ve already thoroughly played the Japanese demo without understanding anything…

  • Eh, downloaded a patched iso that had most of the game in English and played that for a couple of hours so I’ve had my demo already :D

  • I’ll say this… The ways of Bamco USA are truly strange indeed! Even though the EU version is being delayed by nearly two months (it was originally due to come out on the same day as Lord of Arcana here), at least Bamco Europe are distributing it here.

    I don’t know if there’ll be a demo here, but it would be nice if there was one on the EU PSN Store.

    On another note, I feel sorry for you guys in NA getting screwed over with the slightly higher than usual price for the game plus the Gamestop-exclusive DLC as well.

    • TNA_Lewis

      “Higher then usual price”? PSP games are usually $40, it’s just that most games that have come out recentely have been only $30

  • MarkMario

    I sense fail especially considering there is no demo and a lot of Americans may not haven’t heard of or played God Eater.
